Building relationships into partnerships

Strategic partnerships are not about relinquishing control but choosing the right avenue of support.

Providing a service is one thing, building a business relationship into a partnership is quite another and it is their collaborative approach that Pegasus Lift Truck Training believe makes the difference to the service their clients receive. Offering project management services to busy warehouse and operations managers means building a relationship to oversee and advise on a suitable syllabus for teams to help identify motivation and growth amongst drivers using all types of materials handling equipment.

For their customers to overcome challenges it is essential to Pegasus that they provide a service working alongside clients to ensure compliance across the board.

“We have positioned ourselves to react quickly and work in unison with our clients to achieve safer environments and be a part of their team,” said Dawn Girardi, Operations Director. “Offering flexibility to grow with them and their operator training needs.”

Strategically and continually developing an extensive range of skills amongst its own team of trainers, Pegasus deliver high value training for hundreds of drivers a year, ensuring strict, accredited, safety guidelines are met, and with almost 150 five-star reviews on Google from trainees who have undertaken the courses, there is plenty of  recognition for a training provider that makes every effort to meet clients’ needs.

All Pegasus training is carried out on the client’s site, using the equipment the operators will be using and delivering  a comprehensive range of skills through bespoke programmes tailored to the specific needs of each client business. Some companies use in-house instructors, however many others find having an external partner on hand whose knowledge of all types of industries and environments is fully up to date, can often help with new ideas and avoid the potential of complacency if workers are being trained by their peers. Previously, many companies felt that was the most cost-effective way forward, but recent times have seen firms approach Pegasus if their trainer has left, or their workload or other priorities have taken over.

Services extend further than that, though, with the Pegasus team on hand to offer advice on the types of equipment available, and to provide or signpost additional training needs such as fire marshal or first aid courses, and supervisor and manager training for those working with drivers in a warehouse setting. The plethora of services also includes a new Emergency Evacuation Escape Techniques course for those operating Very Narrow Aisle trucks, which was recently developed at the request of a long-standing customer and is now available to all Pegasus clients. In addition, the appointment of qualified forklift service engineer Alex Floyd means Pegasus is now accredited to deliver CFTS Thorough Examinations – the handling equipment equivalent of the MOT test – and LOLER inspections.

Director Giuseppe Girardi explained: “The Pegasus ethos and values include transparency, openness and honesty, and the knowledge of the team can be called upon to benefit the customer whenever necessary. Training drivers is the core of what we do, but we also see ourselves as something of a procurement advisory service. Our knowledge of the materials handling sector means that we can advise clients on the type of equipment they might need, who provides that equipment, and our 30-year knowledge of the sector is vast, so our clients, many of whom have been with us for a long time, benefit from our experience and advice.

“Our aim is to provide our clients with whatever they need to have their teams fully trained and working safely. With total flexibility in terms of working hours to covering night shift training where necessary, UK travel and language barriers, Pegasus pride themselves in building a partnership with clients so they can trust them to deliver whatever they need.”
