Niftylift’s Women in Engineering Day 2021

On Wednesday the 17th of November 2021, engineering manufacturer Niftylift held their 5th ‘Women in Engineering’ day at their headquarters in Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes.

Aimed at Year 9, 10 and 11 female students from the local community, more than 120 students and teachers attended the event – the most to date – from schools such as Watling Academy, Oakgrove, Thornton College, Bridge Academy, Denbigh, Ousedale, MK Academy, Shenley Brook End and Radcliffe School.

The event offered the girls a unique opportunity to learn about the different career paths available within the field of engineering and the practical application of different Engineering specialisms within the company.

The day included tours of the factory, production assembly tasks, control and hydraulic systemsdemonstrations, a CAD workshop where the students got to design an e-stop using Creo and discussions with female staff about their routes into their chosen engineering careers.

Marie Bradburn, a Milton Keynes councillor who joined the students on the day commented:

“Thank you so much for the invite. Truly a wonderful experience!”

Through events like this Women in Engineering Day, Niftylift help schools to promote STEM subjects to more than just the obvious candidates. By championing the creative aspects of the discipline, by enthusing and inspiring young females, the company hope to encourage a new generation of female engineers to take their place in an exciting, vibrant and growing industry.

If you’re at a school and would like to get involved with any of the Niftylift schools’ programs, please send an email to marketing@niftylift.com.
