Founded in 2021, and recently named New Business of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards, Dunore Utility Connections has enjoyed success way beyond its forecast growth plan thanks to key appointments in its first year.
Upon setting up the business, Jon Newsham and Tim Carroll forecasted conservative growth, expecting to increase the headcount by February 2022. Market response, however, led to two part-time hires in October 2021. Those hires were increased to full-time in November 2021 and since then Dunore Utility Connections has added three more employees, bringing the headcount to seven.
It was this rapid expansion that allowed the firm to successfully deliver more than 400 projects in its first 12 months, predominantly through repeat business and word of mouth, driving month-on-month growth and a 79% gross profit margin.
Dunore works with accredited suppliers on behalf of clients in the construction and property development sectors to ensure utilities are installed and then up and running at the appropriate time.
By bringing together a team with a wide range of work experience, Dunore has built a reputation as a trusted partner for those facing the challenge of navigating the complex maze of utilities.
Jon said:
“We are very proud of what we have achieved, we’ve created new jobs in the area, reinvested in the community by choosing local suppliers, and enhanced Northamptonshire’s reputation as a centre of expertise in the utilities industry.
“Our growth has come about organically, which is the true test of success of a service business. An increased workload demanded that we expand the team, but in turn, the fact that we have built a talented and experienced team that gives us the confidence to increase the number of projects we work on, and so the business grows as a result.
“We’re very proud of the team that we’ve hired and the opportunities that has given us, and we make the same promises to them as we do to our customers. We’re in it for the long haul, and will invest to ensure we all grow and benefit, and for that reason, we want to showcase the excellent personnel we’ve brought on board.
“So, we’ve asked them to say a little bit about themselves because they are the foundation upon which Dunore Utility Connections is built.”

After being made redundant back in November 2020 I didn’t expect to gain employment so quickly and to join a new start-up business with Dunore. The team at Dunore came together so quickly and enthusiastically which has allowed the company to succeed. The team spirit is such a major feature in the company’s early success, long may it last.

I’m so proud to be part of the team at Dunore. The company’s growth and support has enabled me to achieve personal and professional goals that I thought wouldn’t be achievable after a career break to raise my children.
Working for a company that encourages me to challenge this complex and notoriously hard to navigate industry whilst teaching and tutoring me through the process has been a dream. I’m excited for the future.

When I started at Dunore, I had no prior knowledge of the industry and knew I would be out of my comfort zone, but came in motivated to learn and excited about the opportunity presented to me. Since my start in January 2022, I’ve been able to work with an incredible team, who continuously nurture my growth and passion to learn.
I’ve had great mentorship throughout my career at Dunore and been presented with opportunities for personal development along with being included in developmental stages of the business. I have felt, and continue to feel, valued in my role and am keen to see what the future holds.

I started at Dunore Utility Connections in September; I was worried about starting a job with no experience, but I can say with confidence that I love my job. I have the best team around me who have helped me start to navigate my way around a complicated industry, bringing the best out of my performance with their knowledge and understanding. They are the most caring, supportive group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
I look forward to the future and growing alongside them as a company.

The day I stepped into the office at Dunore, I knew I’d made the right decision. I was previously in a job I loved but was offered a great opportunity to work with a growing business and haven’t looked back since.
Not only that, I was given knowledge in the form of detailed training in an industry that was completely new to me, guidance and professional development to further grow, and to be part of the Dunore success and future plans.
I have learned so much in a relatively short time and continue to learn every day. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a great, supportive and fun team.
