Residential and community buildings remain prominent sectors for architects

Milton Keynes-based architects, GSSArchitecture, are continuing to expand on their community and residential portfolio in the region.

The practice has significant experience in the development and delivery of a wide variety of community and residential projects, including masterplanning and major new urban extensions. With over 70 staff, the practice is well-equipped to design and deliver large-scale plans with the clients’ needs at the forefront.

GSS recently completed a residential development in Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes, for Grand Union Housing Group alongside main contractors Watson and Cox. The scheme consists of 30 two-bedroom apartments, ideally placed in the centre of the community. The apartments are a mix of private and affordable housing including rental and shared ownership, providing much needed accessible accommodation to the community.

Similarly, the practice are also involved in a series of new urban extensions and community-focused regeneration schemes in Buckinghamshire and across the UK, in partnership with local authorities. This includes new infrastructure such as schools, retail, later living, sports and more. The practice is currently working on a mixed-used community facility in Milton Keynes that will provide flexible spaces for the growing community including a central hub for physical and social activities.

Chris Chapman, Partner, and Milton Keynes Studio Lead at GSSArchitecture, said:

“We are delighted to be continuing our work within the residential and community sector in the region, building on our already impressive portfolio of projects. Health and wellbeing is a key factor in our designs and is particularly important when designing flexible community spaces that promote social interaction amongst local residents. GSS we are extremely fortunate to benefit from our in-house health and wellbeing working group who are on hand to share the latest thinking and research in this field.”
