Leaving your debt recovery in safe hands

There are few things more soul destroying in business than having to deal with outstanding invoices and chasing up customers that are reluctant to pay what they owe. It’s a drain on a company’s time and resources, but necessary when it seems the only other option is costly legal action.

DFA Law recognises that cash flow is essential in business and the firm’s debt recovery team can take the hassle out of chasing debt via a cost-effective and efficient service, starting at just £5 for a Late Payment Demand and providing a tailored service that can be extended out through the entire legal process, if necessary, until the debt is recovered.

As a starting point, DFA Law can issue a Letter of Claim to an individual or a Late Payment Demand to a business, and to anything from a single debtor to a list of several hundred. If a debt has not been paid directly to the client within 30 days, a second claim letter will be sent to those whose payment is outstanding.

If the debt is still not recovered as a result, the DFA Law team will consult with clients regarding formal recovery action or court proceedings, depending on the sums involved.

Paul Currie, Partner at DFA Law, said:

“Chasing up outstanding payments takes up a lot of time that would be better spent on your business, which is why we have devised a structured and transparent debt recovery service that means clients can leave everything in our hands and concentrate on what they do best.

“It’s a tailored service that deals with both contested and uncontested debts, and our debt recovery clients are also eligible for discounted fees for contested disputes, should it get to
that stage.

“The concern for businesses is that legal costs will outweigh any benefits of continuing with the claim, and that’s why we give clear and balanced advice, and structure our fees to ensure any proceedings entered into a proportionate and affordable.”

DFA Law’s fees for issuing proceedings if  the debt is still not paid, but remains uncontested, are staged depending on the amount being claimed, starting at £35 up to £300. A full legal service is, of course, available for any contested debts, with debt recovery clients receiving a 10% discount on the firm’s normal hourly rates.

Paul Currie added:

“It’s a difficult process for a business, they’re chasing up money they are entitled to, but have to be careful that they don’t end up with fees that override what, if anything, they eventually receive by taking legal action.

“We’re here to make sure that claims are pursued effectively and efficiently as far as possible, and with the aim of getting the best possible outcome for our clients.”
