Women Leaders UK are launching the 2023 edition of their Milton Keynes Innovates STEM Festival, taking place Thursday 12th October and Friday 13th October 2023 at Unity Place, Santander in Milton Keynes. Women Leaders UK are a charity established to recognise outstanding women, promote and strengthen women’s leadership, and support gender equality and diversity.
Since the first edition of the festival in 2017, the festivals remit has expanded to include all students and adults seeking a change of career, particular underrepresented community such as females, BAME, those from less privileged areas, disabled and neurodiverse people.
The event is an excellent opportunity for both those seeking new careers and technology organisations themselves, offering the chance to find new talent from the targeted audience, including the community, schools and colleges. Organisations will showcase their technology and bring their female employees to be role models for women who would like to work in the STEM industry and help them to see for themselves the future opportunities that can be available to them. Exhibitors include Oracle Red Bull Racing, Cranfield University, Network Rail, and Tesla, University of Bedfordshire.
The first day of the festival will focus on adults, especially women looking for new opportunities in STEM. Over 30 organisations bring activities and workshops on topics such as CV writing, interview tips, available jobs, education/awareness about their technology and why it is valuable for individuals to join their company.
The second day will focus on students in the age range 5 to 18, their teachers and their parents to meet industries and professional experts in STEM. Organisations provide activities that support their STEM aspirations, encouraging students to perceive the type of opportunities and jobs that are available to them and can be pursued in the future.
