A New Year – The Perfect Time to Start Setting New Goals

Happy New Year! Like years always seem to do, 2023 passed us by in the blink of an eye. How did you get on with your financial goals last year? If you managed to tick at least one thing off the list, progress has been made… I always use January as a bit of a month to reflect on things that went well, both businesswise and personally and use these to create a benchmark for the following year.

In some cases, this could be from the business cash-flow planning perspective, or the contributions that I would like to make into my pension in the coming year. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach and each person, or business, will have its own individual needs and wants.

Stepping into the new year is a time where many re- evaluate their goals and set new objectives for the year ahead. Here, at Avail Financial Planning, we work with our clients to review their financial arrangements and set clear pathways, so that we are able to help them achieve their financial- based goals, whether this be from a personal or business perspective.

How many unread pension statements have now accumulated within the dreaded drawer that you’re saving for a rainy day? One of the things I always say to clients is that there are two things that we always ‘want’ to sort out, but never wake up on a Sunday morning and take action. Those being; sorting my old pension pots that are scattered around and the other being making a will. No rhyme or reason, it’s often just pushed to the back of the mind and saved for later.

Reality is that the sooner we take the steps to evaluate these things and implement strategies, the greater peace of mind it offers, along with a greater understanding of the current and future financial position that you are in. I find that by creating this clarity, our minds become more clear and the end goal seems that it may be so much more achievable.

Why not take advantage of one of our no obligation discovery sessions to see how we can help you to navigate through your financial planning and help you to set some clear planning objectives for 2024?

During our discovery sessions we look to highlight the primary areas where we are able to make you more tax ef- ficient and maximise the use of annual allowances, so that your financial future will benefit from these. Not only is it the start of a new calendar year, it is also the lead into the end of the financial year. There is no better time to get ahead of the game and ensure that no valuable allowances are lost at the turn of the new financial year.

We are able to help and guide you on all aspects of your financial planning, including; pensions/retirement planning, investments, protection and also utilising investments wrap- pers such as pensions, so that in some circumstances you can keep your child benefit allowance, maintain your personal income tax allowance and many more.

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
