Everyone loves a challenge and Milton Keynes charity Harry’s Rainbow, in conjunction with KidsOut, has thrown down the gauntlet to those who want to put their sporting knowledge to the test.
The two charities will be hosting a Question of Sport-style event, sponsored by Redrow, at Stadium MK in February next year where teams will compete to come out on top.
Taking its inspiration from the long-running BBC TV show, the black-tie dinner with drinks reception and three- course meal will include fully interactive fun quiz rounds, games and challenges including some old favourites including Mystery Guest and What Happened Next?
Each table will be allocated a football team and compete under their name for trophies and special prizes, generating some good-natured rivalry. As well as the quiz, there will be entertainment, fun games and auctions.
Kids Out is a charity that supports some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, particularly those who have had to flee, or have experienced, domestic violence or abuse. The charity raises funds for day trips and fun experiences, and provides toys and books to children arriving in refuges and safe houses with next to nothing.
Harry’s Rainbow provides support to children in and around Milton Keynes who have suffered the loss of a parent or sibling. The charity provides support groups, counselling and mentoring as well as memory boxes, days out and holidays for children and their families.
It costs at least £650 a year for Harry’s Rainbow to support just one child and referrals are increasing, with registrations so far this year already matching the whole of 2023.
Alison Johnson, Fundraising and Events Manager at Harry’s Rainbow, said:
“We’re very excited to be teaming up with Kids Out for this event. They’re a charity that run these Question of Sport evenings all over the country with great success. We’re only a small organisation so it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to work with them and do something like this to help vulnerable children across the region.
“We’re hoping that all the guests will get into the competitive spirit. Everyone gets their own football team scarves and I’m sure it’ll get very competitive, but it’s also a chance to enjoy a drink and a meal with colleagues or guests, network with other local businesses and organisations, and raise some money while having a lot of fun.
“All Things Business and Brioche Pasquier have already offered their support to make it an evening to remember and hopefully we will be in a position to announce the special guest host for the evening very soon.”
Tables of 10 are on sale now and more details of the event, which will be held on Friday, February 7 at Stadium MK, are available from the team at Harry’s Rainbow. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who would like to further support the event.
