Ride High, a Milton Keynes-based charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children, is excited to announce the launch of its Ride MK Cycling Festival on Sunday, June 29, 2025. The event invites individuals of all ages and abilities to join in an unforgettable day of cycling, fitness and fundraising in support of local children.
All routes will start and end at Furzton Lake, in the heart of Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes is known for its extensive parkland, over 200 miles of redways and scenic canal paths making it the perfect location for the Ride MK Cycling Festival. There are four carefully curated routes on offer, so whether you are a seasoned cyclist wanting to explore Milton Keynes or a beginner looking to set yourself a new challenge, there is a route for everyone.
Riders can choose from one of the following: 100-mile or 50-mile road routes, 20-mile redway route (sponsored by Santander Cycles MK), 1.6-mile Ready Set Go Route (sponsored by Brioche Pasquier UK). Th is year, the 20-mile route is on the redways only, making it the perfect option for those who would prefer to ride off road. The Ready Set Go route is designed for children, encouraging the whole family to get involved and take on the cycling challenge. Children can ride round on a set of wheels of their choice – bikes, trikes and scooters are all welcome!
Once they have completed their routes cyclists will receive a medal, and both cyclists and spectators are invited to enjoy a festival at Furzton Lake to celebrate their achievements.
Helen Dixon, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Ride High, said “We are really excited to launch this fundraising event. Ride MK Cycling Festival aims to bring the Milton Keynes community together to not only promote fitness and cycling, but also to support the charity’s mission to make a positive impact on the lives of local children”.
Participants are encouraged to ‘Gear Up and Give’ by raising funds to support Ride High’s essential work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the local community. Ride High has been transforming the lives of children since it was founded in 2008 by Rachel Medill MBE, and to date has helped support over 2,300 children. The charity currently welcomes 120 children a week to its programme, where they learn to ride and care for the horses, alongside taking part in clubroom activities which help work on their confidence, resilience and improve their mental health. Th e demand for this support service is continuing to rise, with over 100 children on the waiting list, making fundraising efforts from those in the community more important than ever.
Registration for the Ride MK Cycling Festival is now open, and individuals and teams are encouraged to sign-up early to secure their place. Th ere is also the option to join a guided group led by an experienced cyclist. Riders of all levels are invited to come together, enjoy the scenic routes, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
Ride MK is sponsored by Brioche Pasquier UK and Santander Cycles MK. Ride High is also working closely with Milton Keynes Council, The Parks Trust, MKFM, Results Base and TRT Communications.
