Bedford Blues have announced the appointment of Ben Howe as the club’s new Commercial Manager.
With a strong knowledge of the local area as a proud Bedfordian, Ben brings plenty of experience in the commercial and marketing arena having spent most of his career in the drinks and hospitality sector, notably at Wells & Co.
Eager to hit the ground running, Ben is excited to further build on the club’s existing relationships and forge new partnerships and is ready to discuss all options at Bedford Blues – from sponsorship boards around Goldington Road to hospitality at all club venues on matchdays.
With an exciting rebrand of the division, Champ Rugby, there’s never been a better time to get involved with Bedford’s premier sporting club, which secured its best league finish in 13 years in May.
Mike Rayer’s men also finished the campaign with the best home record across the division – only suffering defeat to the champions in terms of league competition – and were the only team to beat every other competitor at some point throughout 2024/25.
On joining the club, Ben said: “This role is about turning passion into partnerships – aligning great businesses with a great rugby club. This club means a lot to many people and commercially, there’s a powerful story to tell.
“I’m a proud Bedfordian, born and bred, and pretty much grew up at Goldington Road with my dad playing for the club over many years.
“There’s a real buzz around Bedford Blues right now – from the stands to the boardroom. It’s a brilliant time to be part of it and I can’t wait to get to know everyone at the Blues Family.”
Coinciding with the appointment, Bedford Blues have thanked Louis Mann, who moves on from the club having spent over three years in the role.
Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred added: “I’d like to firstly thank Louis, he’s done a fantastic job, shown all of the club’s values and enhanced our commercial operation. He will definitely be missed by many at the club, and we wish him the best of luck in his next chapter.
“However, as one door closes, another opens, and we are delighted to be able to bring Ben into the team. He has a unique connection to this club and cares deeply about Bedford Blues. I am confident he will fit into his surroundings quickly, and, with a strong local network, will help us continue our commercial growth.”
Season tickets are still available to secure a spot at Goldington Road for every match day in 25/26 Champ Rugby, watching captivating rugby week in week out, and joining one of Bedford’s most thriving social scenes.
Prices are frozen for the new season as the club tries to make the purchase of membership affordable for everyone.
