For many local firms, the idea of trading overseas is both exciting and daunting. The potential rewards are clear: access to new customers, greater resilience through diversified markets, and opportunities to scale in ways that domestic trade alone may not allow.
But so too are the challenges: navigating complex rules, understanding customs paperwork, keeping pace with shifting trade agreements, and finding the right partners on the ground.
It’s no surprise that businesses often tell us here at the Chamber that international trade feels like a leap into the unknown. That’s exactly why we are delighted to confirm that, once again, Bedfordshire companies can access fully funded support designed to remove those barriers and unlock new opportunities.
The International Trade Support Programme
Funded through the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and delivered in partnership with both Luton and Central Bedfordshire Councils, our International Trade Support Programme provides businesses in the region with practical, expert-led help at no cost.
Whether you are considering exporting for the first time or are an experienced international trader looking to strengthen your capabilities, this programme is built to meet you where you are.
Participating businesses will gain access to:
- Up to four online international trade workshops covering the essentials of exporting, from documentation and compliance to understanding duties and tariffs. These sessions provide clarity on the rules and processes when trading overseas.
- Specialist one-to-one consultations with experienced trade advisors, designed to help you overcome specific barriers or unlock particular markets.
- Tailored guidance and intelligence to support your decision making and build confidence when pursuing new opportunities overseas.
- Practical resources and tools to ensure you can manage the day-to-day realities of exporting effectively and efficiently.
The programme is open to all eligible businesses in Central Bedfordshire and Luton and is completely free of charge. If you are interested in joining, please contact us before October 31, 2025.
Spaces are limited, and demand is expected to be high, so we encourage eligible businesses to get in touch as early as possible.

Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce
The Trade Explainer Hub
In addition to local support, we also off er a valuable national resource via the British Chambers of Commerce Trade Explainer Hub.
This online platform is designed to cut through complexity by providing straightforward, up-to-date insights into the major trade agreements shaping the global economy. It brings together explainers on live negotiations, recent developments, and what these deals mean for businesses, employees and consumers alike.
By demystifying the detail, the hub helps businesses of all sizes understand how international agreements impact their operations – whether it’s tariffs on specific goods, changes to regulatory standards, or new opportunities in emerging markets.
Building local strength through global connections
Many of our members tell us they are ambitious about growth but cautious about risk. Exporting can feel like a big step, yet evidence shows that businesses engaged in international trade are often more resilient, more innovative, and more profitable than those focused solely on the domestic market.
In uncertain economic times, entering new markets can provide stability by spreading risk and reducing reliance on any one geography.
It can also open doors to fresh ideas, stronger supply chains and collaborations that strengthen long-term competitiveness.
At the Chamber, we’re here to help you turn opportunity into action. That means more than just providing information. It means offering practical, hands-on support that makes a real difference day to day.
By combining the practical training and guidance of the International Trade Support Programme with the insights of the Trade Explainer Hub, we are equipping Bedfordshire businesses with the know-how, confidence and resources they need to seize global opportunities. And with free, funded support available, there has never been a better time to explore it.
Whether you are looking to make your first international sale or to expand your existing global footprint, the Chamber will be with you every step of the way.
The world is waiting – let’s make it yours.
