Northants business boost for star dancer Blake

Blake Jessup-Blincowe has become a dance sensation, making all the right moves to win multiple medals and trophies in countless competitions since he first took to the floor.

The 12-year-old from Northampton, who has set his sights on becoming a professional dancer, has announced a new dance partnership as he competes in competitions across the country.

The iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom was where Blake made his competition dance debut. He waltzed away with two titles after wowing the judges with his energetic expertise in both Latin and Ballroom in his first ever dance competition staged at the world famous venue.

The dynamic dancer is now being sponsored by Northamptonshire-based business, Croyland. The team at the Croyland showroom in Rushden is delighted to support Blake as he takes his next steps to prepare to perform in dance competitions UK wide, alongside new partner Summer Denton.

Croyland’s sponsorship support is a boost for Blake who hopes to one day open his own dance studio. The Moulton School pupil, who lives in Sywell with his family, has had the opportunity to take part in dance sessions with some of the Strictly stars including Head Judge Shirley Ballas and professional dancer Vito Coppola.

Blake’s mum Kelly Jessup-Blincowe said he was destined to dance and always on the move, even as a baby boy!

Mum-of-three Kelly said: “He has always loved dancing since he started walking at nine-months-old; he always liked music and would light up when he heard any tunes being played. He took part in a dance taster session at school when he was six and the dance teacher suggested he had dance lessons because he was so good. Blake was never into playing football like his two brothers, so we started taking him to weekly dance lessons and he loved it.

“We were delighted when he won after taking part in his very first competition, aged seven, which took place in the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the home of dance. He never gets nervous before he performs and we are all so proud of his success so far.”

Mum Kelly clocks up the miles taking her star son to dance lessons and competitions up and down the country. She said the sponsorship from Croyland would help pay for essentials including competition costumes and dance shoes.

Kelly said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Mark and the team at Croyland. It is fantastic to have their sponsorship support for Blake, which helps him follow his dance dreams.”

Blake and his new dance partner Summer train three times a week and the dancing duo hope to make their mark on the dance competition circuit this year.

Blake, who credits coach Greg as a big inspiration, said: “The part I love the most is that dance makes me feel that I am home. It is my happy place and the place I go to get away from everything and forget any worries.

“I aspire to be a professional dancer and I would like to teach others one day too. Dance is my life and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

Mark Swindells, Croyland General Manager, added: “We are thrilled to be able to support Blake’s dancing career and sponsor this shining star of the dance floor!”
