Corporate teams from across Milton Keynes swapped desks for football boots last month as eight local businesses came together to support Ride High at the charity’s annual seven-a-side football tournament.
Held at Sport Central in Milton Keynes, the event welcomed teams from Brioche Pasquier, Connolly Accountants, Cranswick Convenience Foods, EMW, Able Plumbing, RSM, Volkswagen Group UK and Hillier Hopkins for an afternoon of football, fundraising and team spirit – all in support of vulnerable and disadvantaged children across Milton Keynes.
While the weather certainly provided an added challenge, with players facing everything from hail and heavy rain to strong winds and bursts of sunshine, the enthusiasm on the pitches never faded. Teams embraced the conditions with fantastic energy, determination and good humour throughout the afternoon, creating a brilliant atmosphere both on and off the pitch.
The tournament concluded with a closely fought final between Able Plumbing and Volkswagen Group UK. After a tense match ended goalless, Volkswagen Group secured victory in a dramatic penalty shootout to lift the trophy.

Beyond the football itself, the event highlighted the value of businesses coming together outside of the workplace – encouraging teamwork, wellbeing and connection while supporting a local cause. Events such as these provide a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to spend time together in a completely different environment, promoting both physical activity and community engagement.
The event also showcased the strength of support from the local business community, with many organisations contributing to make the afternoon a success. Brioche Pasquier sponsored the event and Cranswick Convenience Foods provided a hugely appreciated barbecue. Referees from MK Dons Academy and Milton Keynes College were praised for their professionalism and confidence throughout the afternoon, while prizes were generously donated by Bletchley Leisure Centre, Majestic Wines, Blenheim Palace and Greene King.
Most importantly, the tournament helped raise vital funds for Ride High, enabling the charity to continue supporting children and young people who are facing challenges such as trauma, low confidence and poor mental health.
Following the success of this year’s event, Ride High is already looking ahead to expanding the tournament in 2027 and is encouraging more local businesses to get involved.
For companies looking for a meaningful way to support their teams, engage with the local community and make a genuine difference, the Ride High Charity Football Tournament continues to prove that business and fundraising can be a winning combination – whatever the weather!
