Do you recognise this lady? Do you know her as Trudie Avery – the familiar face of Avery Creative? Or do you know her as the #LogoLady?
Thanks to her passion for branding and logo creation, she has gained a reputation for being the go-to branding lady in Northamptonshire.
Earlier this year, Trudie decided to embrace her nickname and created a new website – www.logolady.com – and used it to launch an online logo design course containing six online modules that cover everything from choosing the right colours and fonts, to thinking about your brand values and which clients you want your new logo to attract.
But who is this lady behind the logos?
Trudie’s passion for design started at a young age when her Dad came home from his job at a paper mill with a big old trunk, packed full of paper and card for her to draw on, cut out, rip up, glue, stick and paint.
“When people ask me how long I’ve been a designer, I say since I was four,”
said Trudie.
“I was lucky enough to have a massive trunk full of paper and card of all shapes, colours and sizes under my bed. For ten years I drew, cut out and I created all sorts of weird and wonderful things with it. It was how I spent my childhood.”
When Trudie finished school, she decided to study a general art and design course at Lincoln Art College. When she went for the interview to get on the course, she experienced what she describes as a ‘sliding doors’ moment.
“I went to meet with the course lecturer, but he was ill that day and there was another tutor in his place covering for him,” said Trudie. “After viewing my portfolio, he told me that he wouldn’t offer me a place on the general art and design course, at which point my heart plummeted. But he had a better plan for me – he was actually the Head of Graphic Design and would offer me a place on this course if I wanted it. I had never heard of graphic design before but the more I found out about it, the more I loved it. As soon as I saw all the work on the walls, it was love at first sight. I enrolled on his course discovering graphic design at the age of 18, and have never looked back.”
Trudie now feels that graphic design was her vocation and, after working as a graphic designer for 25 years, she feels she has never worked a day in her life because she loves what she does so much.
“I’m so lucky to do a job that I absolutely love!” she said. “Over the years, I have worked with big brands like Virgin Holidays and Coca Cola and I have also worked with coaches, cleaners, climbers and croupiers. I have designed logos, websites, banners, flyers, brochures and even a board game once, but my passion, the thing that fills me up, is working with start-ups. I love helping business owners find their brand, the one that is true to them, and then see them get their business up and flying and watching them soar.”
Now Trudie wants to work with more businesses in the area and help them to create brands and logos so she can watch them succeed and grow.
“My superpower is that I really listen to what the client wants – even when they don’t know what they want,”
explained Trudie.
“I get to know every person I work with and create a logo that really captures the essence of who they are, what the business is, and the people that they serve. Chances are they don’t have the first clue about branding. But that is OK, because I do, and I make it easy and an enjoyable process for them.”

Found a love for art at a young age
Trudie is now offering clients gold, silver and bronze packages to make the logo creation journey even easier.
Each package features a four-step process:
- Step one. Exploration call: would-be clients book a 30 to 45-minute exploration call on Zoom where Trudie gets to know their business and digs deep.
- Step two. Concept creation: Trudie unleashes her creative juices and creates the logo concepts based on the discussion and sends these over for consideration.
- Step three. Feedback: once the client has had a good look at the concepts and gathered some feedback from people they trust, they discuss with Trudie and she makes any tweaks required. The concept may be perfect first time, or it may go back and forth a couple of times until it is perfect.
- Step four. Artwork delivered: clients receive all the artwork for their new logo, including all high-res images for use on websites, print and social media. They will also receive brand guidelines, detailing their brand colour palette, and any other additional files depending on their package, which can vary from email signatures to social media headers.
“I believe it is my mission to change the world one logo at a time,”
said Trudie.
“Now I can do this in a variety of ways. I can inspire and teach people to do it themselves through the online logo design course or do it for them through a simple process and a package in line with wants, needs and budget.
“I want to help to create more amazing logos and brands and watch businesses really take off and fly.”
