Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the return of age-grade international rugby to Goldington Road as England Under 19s play host to their Italian counterparts on Friday April 28, kick off 7.45pm.
Head of the men’s U20s programme and former Northampton Saints coach Alan Dickens will pick an U19s side to face the Azzurri ahead of the pinnacle of the age-grade calendar this June, The World Rugby U20 Championship in South Africa.
Ticket prices for this match start from just £10 for adults and kids for a pound. All online adult tickets purchased in advance are discounted by £4 on matchday prices, so it pays to buy as soon as possible for the best prices.
Hospitality packages are available from just £34 for the big game, with availability in The CMC Marquee, The Dovecote Park Suite and The Burrow at the Blues.
Goldington Road saw two sold-out international clashes between the two nations back in 2019, when England U20s defeated their Italian counterparts in the Six Nations Championship, plus England Women taking the spoils against the Azzurri in the Quilter International later that year.
The two sides will meet after a busy campaign at U18 and U20 level, their most recent meeting resulted in a 32-25 victory for England in this year’s Six Nations.
With Bedford hosting the largest concentration of Italians in Britain, the club was excited to be chosen as the venue and expect plenty of support for both teams on the evening.
Commenting on the announcement, Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said:
“We are really looking forward to this age group international and welcoming both teams. A few years ago, we set a target to make Goldington Road the home of representative rugby for England and Italy, so are proud to have the chance to host this match.
“This fixture completes a very special rugby weekender to conclude our season, with Bedford Blues taking on Coventry in the final round of the Championship just a day later.
“Bedford is a rugby town with a huge Italian community, so it is the perfect setting for such an encounter. We’re hoping for a huge buzz around the town again and are delighted for our supporters and the community.”
