In the dynamic landscape of education, Northampton Saints Foundation shines as a place of creativity and inclusion, reaching thousands of children each year, across mainstream schools and alternative settings.
The Foundation’s education programmes complement the national curriculum, offering a unique blend of academic enrichment and character development opportunities for cross-curricular learning and incorporating the school’s own values.
With schools able to use their School Sports Premium funding, programmes use the power of sport and the values of rugby, to create an environment where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can thrive.
Tackling Health provides participants with education on healthy eating practices and their own health and wellbeing, while Tackling Character aims to establish positive character traits in participants.
Recognising the diverse needs of all children, the Foundation extends its offer to alternative settings, its Sensory Boost programme, delivered from Boost Trampoline Park is tailored for those with additional sensory needs. This programme inspires and supports young people in their cognitive, social and emotional development, facilitating the regulation of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Given the recommendation by Th e Childhood Obesity Plan, at least 30 minutes of physical activity should take place in schools, with each programme incorporating enjoyable and stimulating activities aligned with the Physical Education, School Sport & Physical Activity (PESSPA) and PE and Sport Premium framework. These activities not only support all children in leading healthy, active lives, but also promote a healthy lifestyle.
Liam Welch, Education Lead at the Foundation, said: “We firmly believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, should have access to the benefits of sports and character-building activities, creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
Furthermore, the Foundation extends its services via its social inclusion programmes, helping young people who are disengaged from education and employability programmes supporting individuals to become work ready.
