Get the working mix right for the best of both worlds

Allowing employees to mix working in the office with working at home may be the way forward – but as well as good collaboration tools, fast and reliable connectivity will be needed to ensure maximum productivity.

Many of us have got used to working at home over the last 18 months, but we have also missed the buzz of interacting with colleagues in the office, and some people are now going back to the office for at least one or two days a week, just to get that experience of being with other people.

This apparent dichotomy was borne out by a recent survey compiled by Microsoft. The Work Trend Index 2021 report discovered that while 73% of workers want the flexibility to work at home or in the office, 67% want to go back to having more in-person teamwork and collaboration.

In other words, they want the best of both worlds. They want to be able to work at home whenever they can and go into the office to experience the personal interaction and engagement when that’s what is needed.

Here to stay

At Boxx, the view is that hybrid or blended working is here to stay. We see this as a positive development, and we have switched to a fully hybrid working model. Staff can work at home or in the office as much as they wish to. Most of our customers are doing the same.

That’s making fast, reliable connectivity even more important. Video conferencing is essential to hybrid working and we all want the very best and most consistent experiences when we connect and collaborate with colleagues, partners, customers, and suppliers.

This is increasing demand for high-speed, full fibre connectivity. It’s also driving uptake of Ethernet leased line services, which give a guaranteed bandwidth and high performance in both directions (which is needed for video). More customers are also asking about VoIP options as this is a certain route to ensure contact with employees wherever they are working.

Practising what we preach

We’ve always tried to practise what we preach so, when the lockdown came and we were compelled to work from home, we were able to switch seamlessly. Staff were fully available from their normal numbers and our team was able to make full use of all the features of video conferencing and collaboration tools.

Whatever your current and future needs – for connectivity and for VoIP – boxx can help you to find the right solutions. Through our partnership with CityFibre, the UK’s leading independent provider of full fibre solutions, we provide the high-speed, dependable connectivity to support video conferencing and cloud applications. We also work with leading VoIP providers to deliver the digital voice services that enable you to optimise your hybrid working productivity.

Optimising productivity

CityFibre has been investing in building a full fibre network right across Milton Keynes and its services are now available to thousands of businesses and residential properties. Further investment is extending its reach and will see a further 7,000 homes added to the initial £40m project.

The chances are that you can already access CityFibre services and as a City Champion Partner for the company in the town, we can help you decide which kind of connection is right for you – and for those key employees who are continuing to work from home most of the time. In addition, we can provide VoIP services, consultancy, installation, and ongoing support to ensure you can optimise the productivity of all your teams, wherever they are working.
