Club achieves its goal of bringing festive joy to children

A Christmas Toy Campaign, organised by Northampton Town FC, was a roaring success, bringing festive cheer to children in need across the county.

The campaign saw an incredible amount of support from the local community, with generous donations of brand-new toys for children of all ages.

The toys collected were distributed to three local charities: Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Rainbows and the Northampton General Hospital Children’s Ward, bringing smiles to hundreds of young faces over the festive season.

The club is extremely proud to have facilitated such a positive community initiative, ensuring that children in need received a gift at Christmas.

James Corrigan, Commercial Director of Northampton Town Football Club, said:

“We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of the Northampton community, our fans and our partners,”

“This has been a fantastic initiative, and it’s heartwarming to see so many people come together to help bring joy to children in need at Christmas. We are incredibly thankful to everyone who donated toys and supported the campaign. It’s a privilege for us to give back to the children in our local community.”

Northampton Town is incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in the success of the campaign. A special thank you goes to AIT Home Delivery for their support in transporting the toys and to Cawley’s for generously providing the drop-off bins and toys. Also to Persimmon Homes, Smyths Toys and Snowdon Homes for their generous toy donations; and to A M Water for their help with the supply and delivering of toys, and Hawsons Chartered Accountants, for assisting with sorting the toys, while also contributing a significant number of toys themselves, and of course, to the loyal Cobblers fans for their donations.

Additionally, the club would like to thank BEES, Safe & Secure, Northants FA, Jim Rosenthal, Ash Planning Ltd, Collective13 Clothing and members of the Cobblers Business Club for their kind toy donations. The campaign would not have been possible without the support and commitment of all these partners.

The toys collected through the campaign were distributed to reach the children in time for Christmas. The club is proud to have played a role in spreading the holiday Cobblers cheer.

Welcoming a new manager

In other news from around the club, just before Christmas, Northampton Town appointed Kevin Nolan as the club’s new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

As a player, Nolan appeared as a midfielder for Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United, spending much of his career in the top flight of English football as he scored 69 goals and made over 400 appearances in the Premier League.

Nolan was appointed first team coach at West Ham United in February 2020, a position he held for over four years before leaving the club after the departure of David Moyes in May 2024 and was most recently assistant head coach of the England Under-20 side. Chairman Kelvin Thomas said:

“Kevin was very impressive through the process and showed a real desire for the job.

“He has done well in difficult circumstances in both of his previous managerial jobs, and he impressed us with his knowledge, his energy, his experience and his passion. He showed a real desire and enthusiasm for the role, and couldn’t wait to get started.

“Kevin will be ably supported by the current staff who will remain in their roles while we expect to be able to confirm an additional experienced appointment in the near future to complete a very strong football staff.”

The club is currently preparing for the opening of the East Stand which includes 16 executive boxes, a new hospitality lounge, boardroom and a raised area for wheelchair users. Executive boxes are being sold seasonally and are available match to match, perfect for special occasions, client days out and families.
