In late August it was announced concerts will be returning to The National Bowl, Milton Keynes, with Muse performing as part of their Will of the People 2023 World Tour.
The National Bowl has not seen live music in seven years, but the multi-platinum and Grammy Award winning rock band will make it a spectacular return. Widely recognised as one of the best live bands in the world, Muse have consistently produced exhilarating and ground-breaking shows, and their 2023 tour will be no exception.
The historic venue will welcome the band on Sunday June 25, part of a programme of dates that includes taking over huge outdoor arenas such as Plymouth’s Home Park, Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium and Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, as well as The National Bowl. The tour features special guests Royal Blood, who will perform at Plymouth, Huddersfield and Milton Keynes.
MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said:
“We have been very keen to investigate how concerts can operate under our plans for the training ground and we are really excited to be working with SJM to bring Muse to The National Bowl for the venue’s first live concert for seven years.”
In November of 2019, Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) and Milton Keynes Council (MKC) reached an agreement with Milton Keynes Dons that would allow the football club to develop a new state-of-the-art training facility at the MK Bowl.
The return of concerts will not change plans for MK Dons. Pete Winkelman said:
“This announcement won’t affect our immediate goal to get the first-team training pitches relocated to the Bowl as quickly as possible. I am pleased to say that, shortly, we will be re-submitting our original planning application, which will see the first-team’s training pitches located in the Bowl.”
Stadium MK, MK Dons and Milton Keynes Development Partnership plan to organise more concerts to take place at The National Bowl in the future. Back at Stadium MK, the Marshall Arena is set to host two concerts. First up is Simi and the Banjos Band on Friday November 11, 2022 for a hotly tipped show.
Simi comes to Milton Keynes from her home country of Nigeria where she earned public recognition in 2014 after releasing hit single Tiff, a song which was nominated for the best alternative song at the 2015 Headies Awards.
Simi has seen a lot of success across the world, winning the Nigerian Teen Choice Awards and Nigerian Entertainment Awards, and becoming one of the most sought-after artists in Nigeria.
Simi said:
“You can expect rich, live music. I’ll be playing with my band, the Banjos. They’re awesome.”
Tickets for the concert are on sale with limited tickets available at £45.
Next year, Soul II Soul will be returning to the Marshall Arena for a one-night-only gig on April 29. Following the success of their sell out 2018 show, the iconic British band will take their acclaimed Club Classics Tour back on the road this year, paying tribute to their legendary debut album, Club Classics Vol 1.
With huge hits including Keep On Movin (which sold over a million copies in the US alone) and the UK number-one single Back To Life (However Do You Want Me), Soul II Soul progressed from being one of the leaders of the 1980s warehouse scene to pioneering British black music around the world and securing commercial success for themselves and the huge amount of artists they have influenced.
