A much-loved hospice has launched a new, inspiring campaign to encourage more people in the community to make a difference and support its vital services.
Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s Make a Difference, Your Way campaign aims to highlight the many different ways that people can contribute to the cause and back the charity, whether that is by volunteering their time, donating or fundraising money, or simply spreading the word.
The hospice, in Kettering Road, Northampton, needs to raise a staggering £2,208,823 every year, which equates to £6,052 per day, in order to continue delivering all the much-needed services that it currently provides across West Northamptonshire.
The funds raised by Cynthia Spencer Hospice charity supporters pay for hospice care services – such as inpatient care, outpatient services, wellbeing services, Hospice@Home, lymphoedema service and palliative care clinical nurse specialist service – to be provided to those who need it. Donations also enable hospice care to remain free to patients and their loved ones.
Anita Frith, Director of Income Generation and Communications at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “Every year we have to find different ways to fund our service provision in Northampton and West Northamptonshire. We are lucky to have a really engaged group of supporters and volunteers who show up for us year on year. This year we want to reach out to the wider local community. We want to encourage new faces and families to get involved and support Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
“Every small act of kindness helps. You may not have the means to give financially, but you could instead share news of our events on your social media channels or WhatsApp groups, or even get a group of you together to take part. Another way of showing your support would be to donate clothes to our Donation Station on Moulton Park or buy pre-loved clothing from our shop, which is also based there.
“You might not have the time to join in with a fundraiser but instead be able to donate to one. Whatever you can do, however big or small, really does make a difference and we hope that this campaign will encourage more people to come forward and give us their support, in a way that suits them, knowing that their efforts are needed and appreciated.”
Cynthia Spencer Hospice is planning a full and varied events calendar for 2024, from a Colour Run for all the family to a Three Peaks Challenge for the more adventurous supporters. There will also be a chance for businesses to get involved in the always-popular Cycle4Cynthia and Annual Golf Day events.
