On Saturday July 9, a team of six from Hawsons Chartered Accountants in Northampton participated in a charity walk, the Peak District Ultra Challenge.
David Owens, Will Amos, Rhiannon Mistry, Dalia Qarawi, Gareth Davies and Marah Qarawi all walked ‘50K in a day’ around the Peak District. The epic walk took the team through some spectacular surroundings, including the sweeping hills, picturesque villages and beautiful countryside of the area.
They chose to do the walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and have also been carrying out a number of fundraising activities in house to reach their fundraising target, with £3,273 currently raised through the Just Giving webpage, which is still open for donations. Macmillan’s services provide vital support for both cancer patients and their families.

“The team are immensely proud to have exceeded our original target and to have been able to support such an important charity. We are already looking for a new challenge to take on next year.”
The team were consistent in their training leading up to the walk, following many walking trails around Northamptonshire. Despite the numerous practice walks, the heat, hills and altitude made things tough on the day. The walk took 13 hours over a total distance of 52km.

“The weather was slightly too good, more suited for a barbecue in the back garden than a hike, but nonetheless we finished it and had a brilliant time. The scenery was breathtaking – I’ve never walked past so many cows! Overall, I couldn’t be more proud, particularly knowing that it was for such a good cause.”
