Foundation awards recognise impact and progress across the community

Northampton Saints Foundation’s annual awards took centre stage in July, celebrating the remarkable journeys and achievements of young people and recognising the incredible work of staff, volunteers and partners whose support makes their impact possible.

Hosted at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, the evening paid tribute to every young person whose year has been marked by growth, determination and potential.

“This day is primarily about our young people,” said Ethan Waller, Foundation Ambassador and host for the evening. “While some receive awards tonight, many others have shown incredible progress and commitment. They too are part of this celebration.”

Awards were presented across the Foundation’s core areas: Education, Social Inclusion and Employability, with each programme recognising achievements in three categories: Foundation Values, Progression and Student Achievement.

Craig Phillips, Employability Skills Manager, highlighted a year of incredible expansion for the employability department sharing

He said: “In 2021, we supported 30 young people. This year, we’re on track to reach 120 across West and North Northamptonshire.”

He credited partnerships with Northampton College, West Northamptonshire Council, and Tresham College for helping reduce NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) figures and bridging skills gaps locally and nationally.

Young people in the Employability programmes completed over 780 hours of work experience, earned accredited qualifications, and built crucial life and career skills.

Marking her third year with the Foundation, Youth Counsellor and Wellbeing Lead Dawn Bere shared reflections on the year’s emotional impact. Through wellbeing initiatives and a monthly memory cafe, hundreds of people accessed mental health and emotional support.

“These aren’t just programmes,” said Dawn. “They’re lifelines, safe spaces where people feel empowered, heard and equipped for life.”

Jordan Letts, the Foundation’s CEO also used the occasion to reflect on continued growth.

“We’re on track to support over 8,000 individuals this academic year,” he said. “An upcoming Social Return on Investment project will quantify the Foundation’s impact and strengthen its future strategy. As we prepare for a new strategic plan in September 2025, we remain committed to delivering meaningful, sustainable impact.”

The Special Services team received special mention for their life-changing work through the Saints Inside prison-based programme. With a reoffending rate of just 7%, the initiative is helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose and skills for the future.

With help from businesses and the community, Northampton Saints Foundation can continue to empower more individuals in the community to build confidence and shape brighter futures. Anyone interested in running workshops, or supporting financially by becoming a partner or fundraising, should get in touch and help Northampton Saints Foundation tackle key issues like youth unemployment, mental health and social exclusion to give everyone the chance for the positive future they deserve.
