Fun bingo raises thousands for vulnerable children

In March, Plumbing and Gas Solutions and Facilities Management Solutions ran a successful Disco Bingo Night for their chosen charities.

Combining a good time with fundraising, the companies were able to generate a whopping £3,000, the equivalent of 1,000 rounds of bingo being played in one night.

The Arthur Ellis Mental Health Foundation and the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity worked alongside Plumbing and Gas Group to advertise and sell tickets for the night, seeing over 170 people of all ages come out to support the event.

The night was enjoyed by people of all ages, with music involved from every generation, so there was something for everyone. On the night, there was also a raffle with prizes donated from organisations including Brioche Pasquier UK.

This marks the first fundraising event that Arthur Ellis has done, but will certainly not be the last.

Since 2017, Arthur Ellis Mental Health Foundation has been providing a one-to-one service to those in the community who would otherwise have limited or restricted access to mental health services.

The organisation provides help for anyone from eight years old upwards. The team has an independent referral system that allows individuals to book their first session with one of the Arthur Ellis mentors. The charity boasts a ‘no waiting lists, no thresholds’ policy which it upholds across all 27 GP surgeries it works with.  The aim is to get clients into their first session within two weeks of referral and provides clients with the opportunity to book there and then.

Jon Manning, Founder of Arthur Ellis, was taken aback by the amount of fun people had, and the incredible feedback, let alone the amount raised on the night.

“With us receiving 100 new referrals for children that need support every week, we need to increase our fundraising to help keep our service robust for them and ensure a brilliant beneficiary experience through fun events, just like this one,” he said.

In addition to its fundraising, Arthur Ellis keeps its service consistent by sharing its expertise to improve workplace wellbeing, partnering with schools, colleges and GP practices to provide support to young people across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

The charity has recently worked with Nimble Media, one of its workplace members to establish a new website.
