The newly formed Harpole FC’s Under 7s Girls team has scored a new kit this Christmas, thanks to £500 sponsorship from Bloor Homes.
Based close to the developer’s new Harlestone Park development in Northampton, the team of seven 6-7 year olds trains every Wednesday and plays in the new 3v3 FA concept league every second week on Saturdays.
Team coach, Joe Douglas, said: “The Under 7s Girls team was only started in September this year and is growing. Overall, in the last three years we have gone from just three female players playing in boy’s teams to seven girls youth teams, which is incredible.
“Needless to say, our girls are inspired not only by the successes of England’s Lionesses, but also by the other girl’s youth teams and our two ladies football teams as well. It’s a great environment!
“We also have fifteen youth boy’s teams and four men’s teams, but like any new team and grass roots club, we are run by volunteers, and we do rely on donations like the one from Bloor Homes to keep our players kitted out and equipment updated.
“We’re really grateful to Bloor Homes for their generous donation to this new group of great players; the girls are certainly match-ready in their new kit – it’s a very happy Christmas!”
Established in 1896 and celebrating its 130th anniversary next year, Harpole FC is a family friendly club with a proud heritage of bringing players through from the youth to the adult game. It has a huge focus on offering football to the local community and making it fun whilst developing skills for youth players of all ages and abilities.
Carl Slater, Managing Director for Bloor Homes’ South Midlands region, which is responsible for bringing the new two, three and four bedroom homes to Harlestone Park c.1 mile from Harpole FC, said: “Bloor Homes has a long history of supporting grassroots sports clubs close to our new developments and leaving a positive legacy which benefits local youth teams in particular. Following the successes of our national team we are particularly pleased to see the next generation of girls teams coming through, and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
