Hospice is chosen as telecoms company’s charity of the year

dbfb, the Northampton-based telecoms provider, are keen fundraisers and dedicated supporters of local businesses. Entering 2023, dbfb decided to change the way they fundraise, choosing one charity and building that relationship through fundraising across the whole year. Following an employee vote, it was announced that Cynthia Spencer Hospice will be the chosen charity of the year for dbfb.

Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for Northamptonshire and has a team of doctors and nurses working within the hospice and community to ensure people receive the best end-of-life care. It is a charity close to the heart of dbfb, as one of the founders of the company, Bill Oliver, received treatment there during his illness and before
his passing.

Jess Ansell, Workplace and Sustainability Director at dbfb, said: “dbfb are proud to have Cynthia Spencer as their charity of the year, as voted for by the employees. As Cynthia Spencer is our local hospice and near neighbour, the charity will have either been there for some of us in the past or we may need their support in the future. Hopefully donating our time as a resource where they need it most, will help them continue their services for our local community.”

Throughout this coming year, dbfb staff aim to dedicate time towards raising money and volunteering for Cynthia Spencer Hospice. There will be events, collections and volunteering across the year and the dbfb team will be attending them to show their support.

The fundraising got off to a good start, with £1,155 – enough to fund just over two days’ care for a patient at the hospice – being added from the proceeds of the sale of some unwanted office furniture at dbfb.

Supporting a charity like Cynthia Spencer Hospice means being able to help improve the quality of life of people receiving care
and treatment.

Nina Gandy, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser Lead at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “We are delighted that dbfb have chosen Cynthia Spencer Hospice as their charity of the year for 2023. dbfb have previously supported Cynthia Spencer Hospice as one of their chosen charities. By partnering with us in 2023, it will ensure that people living with life limiting illnesses, along with their families and carers within Northampton, will get the support and care they need and deserve.”

dbfb work with businesses, helping to find the perfect telecoms and communications solutions to suit them.
