Northampton Saints Foundation has published its combined 2024/2025 Impact & Social Value Report, alongside a new impact video featuring club ambassadors Tom Wood and Ethan Waller, showcasing the charity’s work across education, employability, social inclusion, specialist services and heritage.
The report demonstrates the scale and effectiveness of the foundation’s programmes, generating £3.9m in social value, equating to £3.57 returned to the community for every £1 spent (adjusted to remove exceptional and capital costs). During the academic year, programmes reached more than 58 education settings, supported 6,744 participants, and delivered 37,357 hours of activity, creating tangible and measurable impact across the community.
The report and video also highlight the challenges facing many young people and communities, and the role the foundation plays in addressing them, from gaps in education and pressures on mental health services to isolation and involvement in the criminal justice system. This work reflects the foundation’s mission to empower young minds and enrich lives across generations.
The impact video states: ‘When young people slip through the cracks of our education system, it’s rarely because they’ve chosen to give up. They’re often navigating a system that isn’t built for them.’ Through a range of targeted programmes, Northampton Saints Foundation aims to prevent the long-term consequences of disengagement by creating opportunities for personal development, improved wellbeing, and a sense of belonging.
Building on the 145-year legacy of Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club, the foundation uses the power of sport and the values of rugby to support individuals of all ages, from young people in education to adults within the justice system and older people experiencing social isolation.
Jordan Letts, CEO of Northampton Saints Foundation, said: “These figures represent real people and real progress across our communities. Everything we do is rooted in the power of rugby to inspire, support and educate. Using a Social Return on Investment framework, we’ve measured the broader wellbeing impact of our programmes, which demonstrates the power of rugby but also tangibly underscores the social and economic return created through our collective effort.
“We are grateful to all those who make this work possible, the volunteers, fundraisers, partners, funders and trustees, as their support enables the impact we see. This report allows us to clearly demonstrate the difference our work makes, while strengthening how we understand, measure and learn from our impact to ensure we continue delivering change for those who need it most.”
