Footballers, fans and supporters of the beautiful game all have a chance to run out onto the hallowed field at Latimer Park, home of Kettering Town FC, when the club stages its inaugural Poppies Cup in April 2024.
Businesses are being invited to enter a team into the six-a-side competition, a new event for players of all abilities that the organisers hope will become an annual event. Four six-a-side pitches will be marked out on the Latimer Park turf and teams of up to 10 players, minimum age 18 years, can be entered.
Graham Starmer, Acting Chairman at Kettering Town FC, said:
“This is the first competition of its kind at Latimer Park, and we want to encourage local companies who wouldn’t normally attend a KTFC match to enter a team and enjoy the day at the club. It’s hoped this will become an annual event with the focus on the football, and the refreshments afterwards!”
The Poppies Cup will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 1pm and the organisers, club staff and match officials will be present throughout. All teams will receive refreshments on arrival including tea or coffee with bacon rolls or dietary equivalent. There are also opportunities for companies to sponsor the Poppies Cup. Photographs of all the teams will appear on Kettering Town FC’s official social media channels and each company will receive free entry into a prize draw. The prizes include:
- Pitch side advertising board for the 2024/25 season.
- Match day programme advert for the 2024/25 season.
- Match day hospitality for four people at home match at club1872 for the 2024/25 season.
- Signed Kettering Town 2023/24 season shirt.
The entry fee per team to play in the Poppies Cup is £250 plus VAT and entries must be submitted by March 31. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the Kettering Town Golf Day on May 17, and anyone wanting to know more, or to enter a team in the competition, can register their interest now.
