Local firm recognised for tax excellence at the Accounting Excellence Awards 2025

Cottons Group has been recognised nationally for its growing tax expertise, earning Silver for Tax Team of the Year and Bronze for Mid-Tier Firm of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards 2025 – one of the UK’s most respected events in the profession.

Being shortlisted in three national categories – Tax Team of the Year, Mid-Tier Firm of the Year, and Employer of the Year – reflects the firm’s ongoing investment in its people, technology, and client service. It highlights a year of strong performance and growth across multiple areas of the business, particularly its tax offering.

Though a relatively new team, Cottons’ tax department has grown rapidly under Tax Partner, Luke Prout, and Tax Director, Joanne Surley, since they joined in 2024 – strengthening both technical and advisory services, from corporate restructures and R&D to personal tax planning.

Luke Prout, Tax Partner, said: “It’s extraordinary how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’ve built a strong, skilled team that clients can rely on for complex tax advice delivered clearly and confidently. This national recognition is a real credit to the hard work, collaboration and care the whole team puts in every day.”

This recognition follows Cottons Group’s earlier success as Xero’s Large Firm of the Year 2025, rounding off an exceptional year of achievements for the firm and its people.
