Cars have always been a huge weakness for me personally, that and food, but we will leave the food reviews for another day and story.
Cars are such an emotive purchase. Whether you research like Brighton’s scouting team, or you favour a Chelsea approach and see someone else with a shiny new thing and just buy it because you can, very few things cause the stress that finding your next vehicle can bring.
Firstly, you have to be honest with the stage of life you are at. Being honest about your needs is key. It’s OK shopping for a new Audi TTRS when the good lady is carrying twins. Take your time, there’s ages yet, and no doubt you will find the exact car you want. But when it comes to buying it, we all know you are going to be searching for a Q7 instead!
So, you have to work out what you need. But don’t forget that, sometimes, what you need is what makes you feel good. You can still ‘need’ a new Bentley Mulliner Batur and, if you have upwards of £1,600,000 – and you can get your name down for one of the 18 they are making – then by all means, ‘need’ away!
Once you’ve done all the thinking and weighing up, and you know exactly what type of vehicle you need, you then have to trawl though the various channels to find the car type, spec and engine you should have. But, do you know what’s best? Should you have a hybrid? Should it be plug in or self-charge? What mileage makes diesel work? What about the government diesel cut-off? Obviously electric vehicles are out because ‘wee Davey’ from the pub has told you that one caught fire once in Glasgow and the smoke ruined Doreen’s washing. So why would you look at those?
Then you have to think about what’s the best way to purchase it. Do you purchase it? Would leasing it work better?
Lots to think about, isn’t it?
So, just imagine having someone on your side that can just give you the options, someone who knows the specs, knows the engine sizes, the waiting times, the colours and the options on procuring that vehicle. What if that company was on your side? Yes, you know they are getting paid, because you’re not daft, but they are getting paid to be the broker that gets you the best deal on procuring your next car.
Picture the scene: you are sitting having a coffee, telling a friend what you want in your next car. They ask how much you want to spend and how long so you think you would keep it, whether at the end you will hang on to it, or will you hand it back? They’ll ask ‘doesn’t the costs of maintenance worry you?’
Then imagine finishing that coffee with your friend and a few days they send over a list of cars, from trusted suppliers and partners in the industry that you can buy from, and when you ask for more details about the vehicles, they know the answers, they know the people selling, they know the way to match an offering against what you need. Wouldn’t that be easier? Wouldn’t that be a fantastic friend to have?
Well, that’s what we want to offer through Apertus Automotive, part of The Apertus Group’s service. With years of experience of brokering the right deal for you in energy and our other arms of the business, we use that same ethos in helping our customers get into the right vehicle for them, whether that be a 12-month-old Kia X-Ceed on finance or a Land Rover Defender on a rental. Whatever you ‘need’ we have the contacts to make it work.
And once you have all that sorted, and you’re sitting chilling and glance across the coffee table and see the key from your current car… it hits you. What do you do with that? No need to panic, we will have spoken to you about that throughout the process, outlining the options of a part exchange, or paying the balance and selling privately. Whatever your options, we are here to help.
So, before you start the process of finding your next vehicle; before you start considering whether that should be a purchase, lease or rental, surely that coffee would be worth it – especially if we’re buying!
After all, advice on how to get your next vehicle on your drive should be open and honest, shouldn’t it?
