MKBLP announces new board director appointments

Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP) has strengthened its board of directors with new appointments from across the city’s business community.

The newly appointed board underpins the evolution of MKBLP over the last year, under the direction of Chairman, Nicholas Mann, and reflects the forward thinking group as a key driver in the ongoing business success of Milton Keynes.

For the first time, each board director will take on a key role within MKBLP, harnessing their individual business strengths. This move not only supports the ongoing growth of the group, but provides direction and support to members and their respective businesses.

Dr Julie Mills OBE and CEO of MK College remains Vice Chair, while Howes Percival’s Simon deMaid, The Red Thread Partnership’s Freddie Guilmard and Jan Flawn CBE, also continue as board directors, taking on the roles of Legal & Governance, Sponsorship and Member Engagement, respectively.

MD of WSA-The Communications Agency, Jerry Taylor joins the board to steer marketing and PR for MKBLP, while MyMiltonKeynes CEO, Melanie Beck MBE will head up finance for the group. Co-founder of Evidence Talks, Elizabeth Sheldon will drive the events which are the jewel in the MKBLP crown, while Boxx Communication’s Lucy Gallois heads up new member recruitment.

Founder of Respect at Work Ltd and Chairman of CIPD, Safia Boot will spearhead MKBLP’s Community Outreach and Charities focus.

While the MKBLP narrative will remain consistent, to provide focused representation and influence for the continued growth of Milton Keynes businesses, its people and skills, the new board directors, and their specific roles, will not only strengthen this focus, but provide greater support to existing and new members.

“This has been a challenging year for everyone, but, as a group, we have leveraged our individual strengths and links to MK Council, LEP and key sector figureheads enabling us to deliver vital information to the wider business community.” Comments MKBLP Chairman, and MD of Interdirect, Nicholas Mann. “Through the strength of our new board, and our diverse mix of members, we will continue to attract high quality contributors as we eventually move from virtual to face-to-face events.”

“Our newly enhanced board also reflects equality and diversity, which is at the heart of MKBLP.”
