Who are PragmatiQ Solutions and what do they do?
PragmatiQ Solutions are a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Partner based in Milton Keynes. We specialise in designing and developing bespoke CRM systems and custom databases for our clients, providing benefits such as increased productivity, enhanced visibility and improved efficiency. We work with a variety of businesses, including those from sectors such as Professional Services, Charities & Non-Profit, Membership Organisations, Healthcare and more.
What is your role within the business and what does that look like day-to-day?
My position within the business is Marketing Manager, having recently been promoted from Marketing Co-Ordinator. Examples of my day-to-day tasks involve the management of the company’s social media channels, search engine optimisation (SEO) work, content planning and writing, competitor analysis, etc. My role is ultimately to oversee the marketing team and ensure that the marketing efforts are in line with our overall business strategy.
When did you start with the business and describe your journey?
I first started with PragmatiQ Solutions over two years ago as a marketing intern, shortly after my first year at university. Since then, I have continued to work as Marketing Co-Ordinator and picked up increasing responsibility, working alongside my degree. Juggling work and university has been no easy task with the demands of each increasing as the months have gone on. However, now my studies have been completed and I can look back at what has been achieved, I can honestly say the hours and hours of hard graft were absolutely worth it.
What advice would you give to current students?
For any students currently in university, I’d encourage them to gain experience alongside their studies. The main challenge most students encounter during these early years is the competitive nature of application processes. Internships enable you to gain a good level of real-world experience; allowing you to stand out from other candidates who have to almost solely rely on their degree. You just need to be proactive in finding businesses that will give you an opportunity. Therefore, the best advice I can give is to talk to as many people as possible; let them know what you’re doing, the experience you want to gain and how willing you are to roll your sleeves up and go over and above.
Thinking about COVID-19 and this ‘new world’ in which we now live, how do you think the importance of marketing will shift and in what way?
I believe marketing will become more important post-COVID. As we move forward into the ‘new normal’, businesses will recognise the importance of this within their organisation and I think it will play an even bigger part in supporting the wider business strategy. Companies will also need to be more conscious of their approach to selling. Therefore, using quality content to educate and inform your audience will be key in this ‘new world’; even more so than before. Without a doubt we will see a shift across the board in consumer behaviour and purchasing habits, so truly understanding your audience and their changing needs, will be imperative to responding effectively.
What are your goals for the rest of 2020 and beyond?
My goals for the rest of the year are very much focused on supporting the growth of PragmatiQ Solutions and our clients. There are lots of exciting opportunities, including developing our inbound marketing strategy and exploring new ways to deliver our content; focusing on our audiences preferred way of consuming it. On a more personal level, one of my goals is to read more self-development and business books, making time each day to progress this goal. It’s so easy to overlook making time to read and further your knowledge, but it’s one of the most valuable things, and a habit I have developed throughout lockdown.
