Delivered online and on a one-to-one basis, Shine Learning and Training’s courses cover many aspects of business knowledge including health and safety training, business skills training and health and social care courses. Health and Safety Training courses include:
- Workplace Health and Safety – which gives an understanding of health and safety legislation and the most common causes of accidents, as well as an understanding of good practice in relation to electricity, manual handling and COSHH and how to deal with a fire or accidents.
- Assessing Display Screen Equipment – a course aimed at companies who employ users of display screens to train those to assess work space set up. If equipment is not set up correctly, it can leave users at increased risk from certain disorders.
- Fire Marshal – a course that provides the knowledge to carry out the functions of a fire marshal. A Fire Marshal for Care Homes course is also available.
- Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment – aimed at those starting out in the construction industry and providing an introduction to all aspects of health and safety on or around construction sites.
- Level 1 and 2 Food Safety – combines a number of practices to reduce health hazards including premises hygiene, pest control and waste management. The courses can be tailored to catering, manufacturing and retail.
- Personal Protective Equipment – to show how wearing PPE plays a crucial role in preventing and reducing fatalities, injuries and diseases at work, and the role risk assessment plays in the selection and use of PPE.
Business Skills Training courses include:
- Customer Service – the course looks at what customer service means and why it is important, and how to improve the customer service provided by your organisation.
- Disciplinary Procedures – covering the aims of the disciplinary procedure; penalties, including investigations, allegations and suspensions, and the procedures for carrying out hearings and appeals.
- Equality, Diversity and Discrimination – covering equality and diversity and how they relate to one another and helping people identify and address the issues of unfairness and discrimination in the workplace.
- Negotiation – covering the basics of what constitutes a negotiation, skills you can apply to negotiations and practical advice that helps towards becoming a better negotiator.
Health and Social Care training courses for Care Homes and the Elderly include:
- Dementia Awareness – to provide an overview of the common types and symptoms of dementia and how it can affect the brain in different ways. It also covers strategies to use with clients with dementia and dealing with challenging behaviour.
- Dignity and Privacy – the course will define dignity and privacy and look at how to set up the right working relationship with service users, as well as discussing some of the issues that arise when dignity and privacy are not respected.
- End of Life Care – which will provide information on what to expect, how to handle some of the emotions associated with this time and working with other professionals involved in end of life care.
- Infection Control – which will define infection control and explain the legislation that applies to infection control, different types of micro-organisms, how bacteria is transmitted and chains of infection.
Health and Social Care training courses for Young People and Childcare include:
- Safeguarding Children – the course describes the work and processes undertaken to minimise and manage the risks involving vulnerable children, including types and signs of abuse and key safeguarding legislation.
- Autism Awareness – which will provide an understanding of what autism is and how it affects a child, intervention methods that might help manage the condition and simple adaptations to improve a child with autism’s daily life.
- Mental Health Awareness – which explains the difference between mental health and mental illness, covering the symptoms of some of the most common mental illnesses and what to look out for if you are dealing with someone with one of these conditions.
