Sim suite opens up a world of racing challenges

Visitors to the Silverstone Museum will be able to race world famous tracks and take on diverse driving challenges with the launch of its suite of new state-of-the-art simulators.

The museum has announced a three-year partnership with sim specialists Digital Motorsports, a subsidiary of ESE, which has supplied the professional grade simulators installed in the new exclusive sim suite.

Sophisticated sim software allows gamers getting behind the wheel to select their high-performance racing vehicle and link up with other racetracks around the world, as well as having the option to create their own ID and make repeat visits to beat their own lap times.

Digital Motorsports is the world’s premier racing simulator provider and its bespoke sim rigs, utilised by the leading drivers and race teams, are built and developed by its team of motorsport specialists using professional grade components to accurately replicate real-world performance.

In addition, British race car manufacturer Radical Motorsport is the lead sponsor of the museum’s sim space. One of Radical’s iconic vehicles will be on display in the space, inspiring racers as they take the chequered flag on one of the numerous global race circuits they can select. Visitors can further enhance their immersive experience by getting behind the wheel of one of the numerous Radical vehicles, which also feature on the cutting-edge sims.

Radical Motorsport, the UK’s largest race car manufacturer and global racing series provider, has signed a three-year deal with the museum.

Rachel James, Head of Marketing at Silverstone Museum, said:

“The recently enhanced sim room at the museum is one of the most popular elements of our attraction. It has been significantly revamped and the introduction of our new sims, supplied by Digital Motorsports, ensure we can continue to meet the increased demand and deliver the best quality experience for our visitors.

“The new sims offer excellent team building and corporate events opportunities for businesses and will also be incorporated in future educational workshops. Digital Motorsports are the perfect partner in this latest museum collaboration and are committed to helping us deliver one of the best sim facilities in the UK.

“Radical Motorsport’s sponsorship of this area is ideal, and it is fantastic to also have one of their vehicles on display in the space where visitors can enjoy experiencing one of the UK’s leading sim facilities.”

The Silverstone Museum has over 60 hands-on exhibits where visitors can try out a wide variety of activities – from operating a wind tunnel, piloting a Wellington bomber, taking part in a pit stop and climbing into a replica Grand Prix car. Visitors can even see whether they have got what it takes to commentate on a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
