Facilities and Expertise to Keep You on the Right Track

Finding a garage isn’t particularly difficult – the problem is, finding one you can trust. Too many of us, whether regular car owners or fleet, HGV and plant operators, have had unreliable work done on our vehicles, leading to more money spent down the line.

UK Truck and Plant Group, situated just outside central Bedford, guarantees services that are up to DVSA standards, carried out by IRTEC qualified mechanics. Specialising in all HGV and plant repairs, along with the ability to MOT test class 4 and 7 vehicles, UK Truck and Plant Group’s workshops and yards stretch over seven acres of land.

All equipment – including brake rollers for brake testing and a newly built state-of-the-art pitlane for under-vehicle inspections and MOTs – and products used are of the highest quality, to make sure repairs and replacements are faultless. The team works alongside the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency), which visits and inspects the premises regularly, to ensure all regulations are being met in terms of high-quality engineering and repairs.

Clients also appreciate the opportunity to have the same mechanic look after their vehicles each time, so they can get to know the vehicle and stay on top of what repairs have been done.

UK Truck and Plant Group is available seven days a week, offering out-of-hours work by appointment, and can collect and return vehicles where required, or work can be carried out on customers’ sites for peace of mind, and enabling work to be carried out when it would be difficult for the customer to travel to the workshop.

This flexibility allows nationwide coverage, backed up by mobile workshop vans for breakdowns and on-site repairs.

The team of mechanics are multi-skilled, while behind the scenes, the admin staff, accountants and social media assistants work to establish strong relationships with clients and support businesses to promote the extensive services offered.

In addition, the workplace has a firm equality policy, with a balanced female and male organisation and a female lead mechanic.

The facilities and expertise apply equally to fleet maintenance, meeting a business’s requirements as well as legal regulations, including safety checks, repairs, valeting and MOTs.

Fleet safety checks cover the 100 points of an MOT test, with all defects recorded with pictures and repaired or advised to repair. The technicians are skilled to work on vehicles of all sizes, makes and ages – so clients can rest assured that their fleet is in safe hands, maintained to a roadworthy condition and that the time-consuming workload of the fleet manager is reduced.

UK Truck and Plant Group also provides a body build and fabrication service, as well as designing and constructing vehicles including box vans and tippers to request. To ensure customers are happy, vehicles are brought in regularly for inspections and consultation about any further repairs or advice.

A full-parts service, which involves a supply and fit, or just supply, is also available.

“HGV management can be a lot for some operators,” said Sarah Weller, Director and Maintenance Specialist at UK Truck and Plant Group. “

We help our customers keep on top the likes of brake tests and servicing – which prove beneficial in the long run as it reduces the frequency of major breakdowns and repairs.

“We are all about prevention over cure. We can’t emphasise enough that keeping on top of regular checks is the key to a longer vehicle lifespan and to ensure your safety, knowing vehicles are in top shape for the road.

“As well as having a valid MOT and regular servicing, a HGV must also be assessed during daily walk-rounds and checks, and have regular safety inspections. These need to be as frequent as six weeks and are a legal requirement, to act as a preventative maintenance measure and to spot any issues that risk becoming worse.”

In addition, UK Truck and Plant Group’s qualified mechanics look after plant, construction and farm machinery, testing and certifying plant equipment to register it as safe for use. Skilled in repairs, rebuilds, breakdowns and diagnostics: there is no task too difficult for the team.

On top of physical repairs and replacements, a free online maintenance planner and a digital document service is available to help customers manage their vehicle needs.
