Dads set to get grilling for Father’s Day feast

Craft beers, artisan burgers and organic vodka will be on the menu for dads across Northamptonshire this Fathers’ Day, with county producers teaming up for the ultimate Social Isolation Supper Club.

Some of the region’s hottest food and drink entrepreneurs will be “doing it for the dads” as part of the Fathers’ Day feast, which will fire up barbecues across the county.

It is the third instalment of the Supper Club – launched by Burnt Lemon Chefs and Jelley’s Organic Vodka to help keep peoples’ spirits up during lockdown. James Peck, owner of Burnt Lemon Chefs, said: “The Supper Club has been a great way of giving people a bit of contact with others during what has been a massively difficult period for us all.

“We’ve used Facebook and Instagram to make it as interactive as possible, with live cookalongs and the chance for guests to chat to each other throughout the night. This time we’re doing it for the dads, giving them the opportunity to cook the perfect burger, crack open a beer and enjoy a taste of the summer.

“With Premier League football also back on the telly that weekend it’s set to be a great day for all us blokes.”

The £35-a-head BBQ package includes an 8oz smoked brisket and short rib burger with bacon, cheese, beer and onion jam and smokey BBQ sauce. Sides include chimichurri corn-on-the-cob and rainbow slaw while those with a sweet tooth can enjoy a grilled smores sandwich with butterscotch sauce.

Drinks pairings will be a trio of vodka cocktails, an organic Hugo, an elderflower Collins and an espresso martini. A separate bundle featuring six craft beers from Braybrooke Brewery, Three Hills Brewing and Boot Town Brewery can be added for £16, while a family bundle for two adults and two children is available for £90.

Benjamin Jelley, brand founder of Brixworth-based Jelley’s Organic Vodka, said: “Lockdown restrictions are slowly starting to ease but we’re still a long way from being back to normal. “It’s been so difficult for people left unable to celebrate important occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries so we wanted to do something for the dads to mark Fathers’ Day and show them they’ve not been forgotten.” The Social Isolation Supper Club is an interactive cookalong designed specifically for diners to take part in during lockdown, hosted live on social media. ‘Guests’ get a box delivered with everything they need to follow James step-by-step as he helps to prepare a gourmet three-course feast to enjoy in the comfort of your own home, while Benjamin shows you how to mix a cocktail designed to match each individual dish. The event will be shared through Instagram Live from 4pm on Saturday, June 21.

‘Social Isolation Supper Club’ packages are available to order now from www.burntlemonchefs.co.uk/home/the-social-isolation-supper-club-no3 Deliveries can be made across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Milton Keynes.
