It’s that time of year again, when days that provide just enough warmth to suggest summer is on its way prompt us to find the ideal outdoors spot to enjoy a drink, a bite to eat and good company in the fresh air.
The Kettering Park Hotel kitchen team has devised a special menu comprising lighter summer dishes and snacks, including salads, open sandwiches and burgers, a range of desserts that includes strawberries and cream, Eton Mess and summer pudding, as well as a selection of afternoon teas.
There’s also the restaurant’s al fresco seating area where guests can enjoy the full lunch and a la carte menu in the open air.
Afternoon tea, which comprises a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones with clotted cream and preserves and a choice of teas and infusions, is £29.99 or £34.99 with a chilled glass of champagne or Hambledon English Rosé.
Whether you’re eating or just enjoying a drink, there’s something to suit all tastes. Jugs of those summer favourites Pimms Cup and Aperol Spritz with prosecco are available, and there’s an excellent selection of champagne and sparkling, white, red and rosé wines along with beers and ciders and a selection of gins.
Although afternoon tea must be booked in advance, for other food and drinks guests are welcome to simply turn up and find a sunny spot in the gardens, making good use of the hotel’s new outdoor furniture as they relax with family and friends, or get competitive as they battle it out in one of the garden games.
Andrew Hollett, General Manager at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa, said:
“After the dark days of winter, guests are always keen to make the most of an outdoor get-together when the weather allows. As summer goes on, and the days get hotter, we expect to welcome more and more people in to make the most of our food and drink selections, while enjoying the beautiful setting of our landscaped gardens.”
