With the changing of the seasons, the Towergate Northampton team decided it was time for a new local challenge.
In April, the Towergate team collectively completed a virtual 903-mile trek, covering the length (603 miles) and breadth (300 miles) of the United Kingdom, raising vital funds for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity.
They focussed their energies to complete morning runs, lunchtime walks and weekend hikes, combined with a number of challenges along the way. With the help of their fitness trackers, the team kept pushing to secure the 903-mile distance.
In support of this challenge, at the time of writing, the team had raised over £1,000. Of this, £500 was raised through employee donations, client support and fundraising from friends and family. As Towergate Insurance Brokers forms part of The Ardonagh Group, any fundraising is also match-funded by The Ardonagh Community Trust. The Trust helps local communities to become stronger, better and brighter through grants, supporting employee volunteering and in this case, match-funding any amount raised.
These efforts follow last year’s Contribute Your Commute initiative, which saw the team fundraise in excess of £1,700 for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The team chose Cynthia Spencer as their charity again this year because of the invaluable support they have provided to families of colleagues from the local Towergate office over the years. During 2021 the hospice is celebrating 45 years of caring for the community in Northamptonshire, making it a very significant year in the hospice’s history.

Richard, Sian and the team have been actively supporting the charity over the last few years and we have been so grateful for this. The pandemic has proved to be difficult for businesses to be together to support good causes, however, Towergate have not let this be a barrier to their fundraising success.”
