An IT support company looking for an office space to create a more corporate image for the brand has moved into Northampton’s Vulcan Works – and plans to hold an information event at the workspace next month.
Infinity Geeks set up a base in the innovative hub last August and has already made great use of the business support features on offer, meeting regularly with Business Growth Manager Darren Smith.
Managing director Thomas Maar said: “The business support is amazing. Other places just give you a room and say good luck, but Vulcan Works isn’t like that. It’s not the cheapest option but you get a very professional environment and impressive business support on site.
“I’ve already had some one-to-one meetings with Darren who addressed the business questions I had and gave me great ideas on marketing and what community groups I should be joining to get more exposure.
“Vulcan Works is not just a property; they actually want to help. It’s quite different to just renting an office, it’s an incubator style place, like being in a start-up centre with that invaluable additional support.”
Previously, Thomas ran Infinity Geeks from his makeshift office in his garage at home but found he had reached a point whereby he needed a commercial address to add authenticity and reliability to his brand.
He said: “I was bidding against other businesses, and I needed to have a more corporate image. It makes a big difference having a commercial address.
“The separate business focused environment has been a gamechanger. I feel I’m taken more seriously when participating on tenders and bidding for work with a commercial registered address. When working from home I didn’t have the advantage of a professional setting around me when on video calls. Being in an office reflects professionalism and means I have no distractions.
“Since moving in, I have been able to focus solely on my work , away from the noise and buzz of a home filled with children. I have been able to deliver and engage in new calls generating prospects.”
The town centre location has also helped the Infinity Geeks team, with visitors able to pop in when they’re nearby to the Cultural Quarter.
This will also be useful for the Infinity Geeks information event at Vulcan Works in March, in which the team are inviting local businesses to drop in to find out more about IT support, helpdesk services, and cyber security.
Thomas added: “We don’t want to just deliver IT for companies; we want to understand their business and be an integral part of their team.
“We are very proud of our customer service. The person picking up our support line is the person who is going to help you and I hope the event will give people a chance to see who is behind Infinity Geeks and how we can help.”
Centre manager Garrick Hurter said: “The arrival of Infinity Geeks has been another great positive for Vulcan Works. Thomas and the team have really embodied all that we stand for here – collaboration and community spirit – and it is brilliant to see.
“We look forward to hosting the Infinity Geeks event next month and invite all local businesses to come in and see what they offer and what we can offer too in terms of office space, coworking, information gathering opportunities and business support.”
Thomas finished with: “Even though there are cheaper alternatives out there, they don’t have the value added I found at Vulcan Works – friendly staff, a positive vibe, a building with character and that incredible business support. If I need something I just go downstairs and knock on the door, it’s that friendly.
“It’s a really pleasant place to come to work.”
