Passion project proves the perfect fit

Perfect Hive has announced the acquisition of 100% of Loom Club Limited, including its subsidiary Loom Club Islington Ltd for an undisclosed price. Loom Club COO Han-Rui Chiew will continue to support the business as Perfect Hive expands its London portfolio.

Founded as a ‘living room club’ and located on the Islington-Hackney border in a repurposed piano factory, the club blends café culture, co-working, and fitness under one roof. Co-founders Han-Rui Chiew and Andres Mendoza reimagined the role of neighbourhood spaces by tackling loneliness and the challenges of remote working.

“Loom Club is exactly what we’re missing in our portfolio,” said Thish De Zoysa, CEO of Perfect Hive. “It is no secret hospitality businesses need to work harder and do better for their customers. Our Curve Club is an exclusive members club and Loom Club joins the ranks with its large and loyal membership, wellness off er and complementary workspace. Loom is an incredible business, and we look forward to supercharging its impact, and applying its layer of community across our portfolio.”

In its first year alone, Loom built a strong foundation with more than 200 members, achieving 80% retention and a 5-star Google rating. Designed by Kasawoo, the architects behind Apple’s US headquarters and retail stores, the space reflects a premium yet welcoming environment.

The Loom Club

The Loom concept centres on creating a genuine sense of belonging – offering social experiences, wellness classes and flexible workspaces that foster meaningful, real-world connections in an increasingly digital age.

“Loom started as a passion project to bring neighbours together who were searching for something more. Today, many of us miss what past generations found in the local pub or place of worship – a default place to belong. That’s what drove us to build our neighbourhood’s living room club” said Han-Rui Chiew. “We have bootstrapped and crowdfunded Loom, and its next chapter seeks larger reach – I look forward to what we can do next.”

The acquisition reflects Perfect Hive’s strategy to evolve beyond traditional hospitality models, which are increasingly challenged by:

  • The cost-of-living crisis
  • Rising operating costs in hospitality
  • The cultural shift from alcohol consumption to wellness lifestyle

The Loom model provides a compelling complement, introducing daytime activation through co-working and wellness, alongside recurring membership revenue and community-led programming.

This approach drives consistent footfall while diversifying income streams beyond evening and weekend trade.
