Businesses across the county are being encouraged to step forward and sponsor Northampton in Bloom, supporting one of the town’s most visible and successful place-making initiatives.
Delivered by Northampton Town Council in partnership with the Bloom Working Party – which includes Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), idverde, Veolia and West
Northamptonshire Council Park Rangers – Northampton in Bloom enhances the town centre and surrounding neighbourhoods with high-impact floral displays from May to September each year.
The project sees several hundred hanging baskets, planters and sustainable gardens installed across key locations, creating a welcoming environment for residents, visitors and businesses alike, while supporting wider ambitions around civic pride, footfall and economic vitality.
Northampton has a strong track record in national horticultural competitions, having competed in the RHS East Midlands and Britain in Bloom for 18 years, achieving Silver Gilt in 2018 and a Gold Award in 2019. Following a pause during the pandemic, the town returned to competition in 2025, securing a Silver Gilt award and reaffirming its standing within one of Europe’s largest environmental and community campaigns.
For 2026 and beyond, Northampton Town Centre BID is supporting the Town Council’s ambition to grow the programme further through meaningful business sponsorship.
Mark Mullen, operations manager at Northampton Town Centre BID, said: “Every year we see the town centre get a beautiful burst of colour when the Bloom displays come alive. Last year’s displays were spectacular as we marked the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton and we want to make sure this year’s efforts match that quality.
“We need the support of our local business community to make that happen so we are calling on employers to get involved and help our town centre looks its absolute best for the summer”
Sponsorship opportunities range from £400 hanging basket packages to street-wide sponsorships, as well as support for schools and community gardens, offering businesses prominent branding in high-footfall locations, inclusion in official Bloom portfolios and judging materials, social media exposure and press coverage.
Importantly, Northampton in Bloom sponsorship allows companies to demonstrate visible commitment to environmental improvement, community investment and town centre regeneration – values increasingly expected by customers, employees and stakeholders.
Cllr Andy Kilbride, Chair of the Environmental Services Committee at Northampton Town Council, said: “We are proud of the recognition the town has achieved over many years in this competition so we want to continue developing this good work.
Since reintroducing the scheme, we have expanded the planting and taken steps to make displays more sustainable.
“Northampton in Bloom is about so much more than floral displays. It nurtures a sense of community pride and wellbeing and shows what can be achieved when we work in partnership.
“I would encourage local businesses to get involved by sponsoring the project. You will be playing a visible role in enhancing the town centre and strengthening the way people experience our public spaces.”
Northampton Town Centre BID is encouraging businesses of all sizes to consider sponsorship as a practical way to invest in the town’s appearance while gaining sustained, positive brand visibility across the summer months.
