Let the experts take the your IT strain

There is an element of IT in every business today. It may be a relatively small requirement, or it might be a project on a grand scale. But whatever it is, it’s impossible not to touch or interact with some type of IT solution, either in a workplace or socially, these days.

And for that reason, most businesses rely heavily on the smooth running of those solutions, so the peace of mind of knowing everything is in expert hands is invaluable.

Fortunately, CMC, the Milton Keynes-based communications specialist, can take the strain – ensuring clients’ systems and processes run smoothly using a series of tried and tested methods that have been developed over its 30 years in the industry.

Implementing the right solutions is important but so is understanding clients’ business processes and workflow. CMC helps many businesses understand their potential through using recognised vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco and Vodafone to create a collaborative approach to business IT solutions. Then, once these solutions are in place, the CMC team are on hand with proactive monitoring of key equipment such as servers, network equipment and internet connectivity, as well as staying ahead of advances in technology that could be a game changer for the way a business works.

CMC was founded in the early Nineties when Ralph Thompson started a mobile phone business at a time when the first smart phones were being developed and mobile telephony was beginning to take off. The company became one of the first Vodafone Business Partners, a status it still holds today, and retains several clients from those early days.

CMC Communications

The IT division of CMC was set up in 2010, developed by current Managing Director Simon Wright to offer managed IT services in a way that complemented the existing CMC service offerings. Sales Director, Phil Glenister joined the business in 2012 to help develop a strategy to reach new markets and acquire new business as well as maintaining strong relationships with the current client and supplier base. Today, Simon and Phil form the core senior management team of the business along with Technical Director Andrew Mwazange and Operations Director, Ian Dickinson.

Simon Wright said:

“The move into the world of IT Managed Services enabled CMC to target new markets and offer an overall communications solution to meet the needs of clients on a national scale, rather than being limited to local. As new clients came onboard it was important for CMC to develop internal skills and enhance our supplier relationships, which means we have always ensured that our staff are fully trained and have expert knowledge in everything they do.

“Our services have developed over time, from mobile phones and SIM contracts to now offering full end-to-end management for both IT and communication services for businesses from SMEs through to Enterprise-level clients.”

CMC’s sales teams have always been proactive networkers alongside developing good connections within the industry. A lot of new business comes through referral from the existing client base, as well as through many business networking events in and around the MK and Bedford areas.

Sales Director Phil Glenister added:

“The company runs its own events through our partnership with networking organisation Collaborate MK and the Bedford Heights Business Centre. These events allow us to showcase the products and solutions we offer, as well as to network with likeminded businesses.

“We are also a long-standing partner of MK Dons FC and are the club’s Official Technology and Hospitality Partner. That association with the club and the stadium has given CMC a platform to deal with many of the other businesses associated with the club, and has proved to be a recipe for success and long may that continue.”

CMC Communications Office

Recently, CMC has expanded into Bedford and now has an office location on the outskirts of the town for its sales and account management teams. It has also made a recent acquisition of an IT services company in Aylesbury, giving it a third location and further expansion into a new territory. The pooling of services across the two business will enable customers of both to enjoy an increase in the services on offer.

Phil added:

“It’s fair to say that home working has become a way of life for many. That presents challenges to the IT world but we have to recognise that the traditional nine-to-five office worker is no longer the norm. This shift has enabled us to develop solutions that fit around the needs of employees that are required to work from anywhere – home, office, café, airport, the moon! (Ok, maybe not the moon just yet!)

“But we appreciate the need for employees to be constantly on the move or having to work from any location. It’s become more important than ever within the IT world to make sure we cater for all these requirements in order to enable our clients adopt better ways of working.

“Looking to the future, CMC will continue to work very closely with key partners in order to keep on top of new advances and technology. We hope to continually acquire fresh talent within our sales and technical teams as our future expansion plans come to fruition.

“The IT word is an exciting place to be, and CMC would love to be on that journey with as many businesses as we can, we know we make a real difference to the clients we work with now and the new ones we will work with in the future.”
