Dance fundraiser returns support to the hospice

Annual competitive dance extravaganza, Strictly Northampton 2025, has renewed its partnership with Cynthia Spencer Hospice, pledging half of its fundraising this year to the much-loved charity.

Founded in 2010 by professional dancer Andrzej Mialkowski, Strictly Northampton has made a significant impact across the county, raising millions of pounds for local charities over the past 15 years.

After more than a decade of supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice and raising more than £400,000, last year the sparkling contest temporarily chose a different charity to donate its proceeds to – Air Ambulance.

2025 sees Strictly Northampton return its focus to Cynthia Spencer Hospice, not just for fundraising but also with Andrzej inviting the charity’s director of Income Generation and Communications, Anita Frith, to participate as a judge in the contest.

The other half of the proceeds will be invested back into Andrzej’s dance school, Step by Step, to enable the next generation of dance superstars.

Anita said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to be a judge for this fantastic event and am very much looking forward to the experience. I have always been impressed by the calibre of the dancers who take part, and I have no doubt this year will be full of top talent. I am challenging my inner Motsi Mabuse to give the competitors plenty of support and encouragement – I won’t be the next Craig Revel Horwood!

“We are delighted to be partnering with Andrzej and Step by Step once again and are very grateful for his support. The monies raised by this fantastic event have already made such an incredible difference to the vital care we provide and will continue to do so.”

Andrzej shared his pride in the contributions made to the hospice through the years and his enthusiasm for Anita joining the panel. He said: “It is a great pleasure to continue our work with Cynthia Spencer Hospice. The hospice is an incredible gift to our community, and I am very proud of the money we have raised so far for its wonderful work.

“It is exciting to have Anita join our judging team this year and we look forward to hearing her views on our talented line up as they take to the dance floor.”
