dbfb, a communications company specialising in flexible connectivity, IT and telephony solutions has launched a new internal fundraising initiative to support local charities.
Many local charities rely on funding to keep them running and, following a difficult few years for the sector, dbfb decided to launch Pink Wednesdays.
The idea was started by Shannon Parris, a member of the Delight Team (the customer service arm of the business). Shannon, who simply loves everything pink, wanted an initiative to get the whole business involved whilst having fun to raise money for charity. Every Wednesday, the dbfb team are encouraged to wear pink and a donation will be made to a different local charity each month. The teams at dbfb will choose a charity each, and these will be alternated each month. dbfb as a business will contribute on top of the employees’ donations towards the fundraiser (up to £250).
While the aim of the fundraiser is to raise money for local charities, it’s also a great way to have fun in the office and to brighten everyone up by wearing pink. The dbfb team have fully taken the initiative on board and are continuing to wear pink each Wednesday and donating.
Due to the situation in Ukraine, the team decided to donate their first Pink Wednesday to the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal, raising £250 with dbfb donating a matching £250 giving a total of £500.
Shannon said:
“I absolutely love pink, and for a few years had already been encouraging the team to wear pink on Wednesdays for a bit of fun. After some discussion, we decided that it would be great to take it to the next level and launch an official fundraiser. This was not only to bring a bit of excitement to the team, but also to raise money for local charities.”
Simon Pickering, Managing Director at dbfb, added:
“For us as a business this was an easy decision. Not only does it bring our team together, it raises money for charities that need the funding at the moment and it’s a great way to give back to our local community. Pink Wednesday is a great ongoing initiative, and it would be brilliant to have more businesses in the community taking part and supporting local charities.”
The charities the team are planning to donate to are mostly chosen due to personal connections and include Harry’s Rainbows, Deafconnect, Leicester Animal Aid, Macmillan, Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Bowel Cancer UK, Team Verrico, War Child, Tiny Changes, Cransley Hospice and Northamptonshire Mind. These charities are mostly in areas where dbfb has a presence, including Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Leicester and Coventry.
To join in, simply launch the fundraiser in your company and tag #PinkWednesdays on your social channels to take part.
