Partnerships – in business and the community

In today’s rapidly changing business climate, quality professional advice is invaluable.

From a legal perspective, whether you are selling or purchasing a business, issuing new shares, reviewing trading terms, updating employment contracts or even taking on new premises, obtaining advice from a trusted legal partner at an early stage in the process can assist in ensuring that the transaction remains on track and is as smooth as it can be.

Partnership is what Tollers Solicitors is all about. A belief in building long-term relationships with businesses, institutions and individuals in the markets that it serves.

In 2027, Tollers will celebrate its 150th year in business. While the firm’s origins are very much rooted in Northamptonshire, it has expanded operations in recent years, opening its first office in Hertfordshire in 2014. In doing so, Tollers has extended its commercial and private client legal practice throughout the East and South Midlands, utilising the firm’s experienced teams to deliver advice in all aspects of business and personal legal services.

Whilst Tollers has national and international clients, the fi rm more typically builds its partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), medium-sized public sector organisations, owner-managed businesses and private individuals.

The firm’s investments in new geographies, staff, technology and offi ces have given rise to growth in the provision of its core legal services and has led to strong performance from the practice, particularly since the Covid 19 interruption.

With the firm approaching its new financial year in April, Tollers CEO Duncan Nicholson is looking forward to another productive year for the practice. He said: “The firm is committed to investing, particularly in its staff, so that Tollers can offer the best and most extensive experience to a wide range of sectors and provide the best possible legal solutions to our clients, all of whom have one thing in common: a desire to grow their business and improve profitability.”

An illustration of that commitment is the recent appointment of Sarah Miles as the firm’s new Head of Corporate. Sarah was an outstanding candidate with over 20 years’ experience and the perfect choice to lead and grow the firm’s Corporate and Commercial practice. She has a history of dealing with a wide variety of transactions including the acquisition and disposal of businesses, complex corporate restructuring and insolvency schemes along with the drafting of commercial documentation including trading terms and conditions, facility documentation and shareholder agreements, as well as advising generally on all matters related to business succession.

Sarah’s career started in Hertfordshire, and she has developed her expertise as a leading advisor to businesses and individuals alike throughout the Home Counties and the South and East Midlands.

Prior to joining Tollers, Sarah was a Partner at both a local and a national practice and has an enviable reputation for successfully managing and developing the solicitors and support staff in her teams. She has a passion for mentoring junior members of the team and helping them build their commercial knowledge, as well as assisting them to gain confidence in the complex area of corporate law.

Duncan added: “The arrival of Sarah marks an exciting new era in the fi rm’s opportunities to partner with like-minded businesses throughout the region. She has an impressive CV and will be a huge asset both to Tollers and to our clients.”

The appointment of Sarah is not the only exciting development in 2026. Consistent with its approach and commitment to its clients, the firm equally partners with institutions that matter to the local community. It has a history of supporting charitable entities and foundations, and has a long association with the professional sports teams that are at the heart of the local communities served by the practice. An official Partner to both Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and Northampton Town FC, Tollers has also provided historic support to Northampton Saints over the years.

For 2026, the firm’s support has extended to the sponsorship of exciting young golfer Callum Farr. Callum, who hails from Northamptonshire, turned professional in 2021, having concluded his amateur career as one of the most respected match play competitors, with notable performances in the Spanish, English and NSW Amateur Championships.

After a successful 2025, including wins at the UAE Championship, the Al Mouj Challenge and the Imagine Cruising Masters, Callum secured playing rights for events on the Hotel Planner Tour, part of the DP World Tour for the 2026 season. While it is early days, a fifth place finish at the season-opening dual-sanctioned Hotel Planner/Sunshine Tour SDC Open at Zebula Golf Course, South Africa, demonstrates Callum’s huge potential and his upwards trajectory on the world golfing scene.

Duncan expressed his delight at Tollers Partnership with Callum. He said: “The partnership opportunity presented to the firm to support Callum Farr was one that we were delighted to accept. Callum is a local lad starting off in the highly competitive world of professional golf. As a firm we are delighted to partner with Callum as he becomes the firm’s brand ambassador on the Hotel Planner and DP World Tour. As a firm Tollers’ strap line is its belief in ‘Exceptional People, Exceptional Service, Exceptional Delivery’. In Callum the firm is investing in an exceptional young professional golfer and we look forward to following his progress over the course of the golfing season.”

In its support of Callum, Tollers has once again demonstrated its ethos of supporting and partnering with those in the geographies that it serves.

Duncan said: “From both a business and community perspective we are confident it is going to be another exciting year for Tollers, especially in the lead up to celebrating 150 years serving the communities that are at the heart of everything we do.”
