PROJECT TRIUMPH TE-1 – Creating UK electric motorcycle capability

Project Triumph TE-1 is a ground-breaking collaboration between Triumph Motorcycles and the UK’s leading electrification experts, each of whom is focused on creating innovations in their own specialist areas whilst creating unparalleled UK electric motorcycle capability.

Delivering on the objectives announced before the start of the TE-1 project in August 2019, focused on developing specialist electric motorcycle technology and innovative integrated solutions, this unique collaboration between Triumph Motorcycles, Integral Powertrain Ltd, Williams Advanced Engineering, and WMG at the University of Warwick funded by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, has already achieved significant results.

Integral e-Drive has developed a new, highly integrated motor and inverter powertrain as part of the project. A bespoke, very high-power-density Integral e-Drive electric motor has been combined with new, ultra-low-loss Silicon Carbide power-stage, which, like Integral e-Drives electric machines, is itself extremely scalable. Initial performance test results far exceed the current benchmarks and industry targets.
