DSV is a global supplier of transport and logistics but, although a giant in the freight forwarding industry, its significance remains local. DSV has a substantial presence within Northamptonshire, employing over 500 people with further opportunities for temporary labour workers, over four sites. As it has grown across the county, DSV has recognised the need to give back to the community that has been so intertwined in its journey, for many causes.
This year, DSV was thrilled to be shortlisted for not just one, but three awards at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards: Big Logistics Company of The Year, Environmental & Sustainability Award and Community Engagement Initiative of The Year.
DSV was delighted to receive two awards, Big Logistics Company of The Year, which is an achievement in itself, to be recognised in the industry as a leader. But, as a local business, winning Community Engagement Initiative of The Year was a heartfelt thrill.
Through local contacts, staff recommendations and ever- expanding relationships, the team at DSV are always looking at where they can add value and support those who need it most. From local charities and support groups to schools and sports clubs, DSV continues to create meaningful relationships that will allow it to engage with the communities of Northamptonshire.
DSV always has and continues to raise funds that will be used for the ongoing engagement initiatives, whilst working to bridge the gap between big business and the local community.
Some of the partnerships and initiatives that DSV has been involved in over the past include:
Jollys Toys Christmas Gift Initiative
Jollys Toys has had the privilege of working with DSV Thrapston to bring joy at Christmas to local families in need since 2022. During this time, funds raised by DSV team members has enabled Jollys Toys to donate Christmas gifts to over 100 children from birth to 16 years who are registered with Thrapston Food Bank.
UX2
UX2 has been supporting the development of young people for the last 10 years, through local councils, schools, and colleges to government initiatives, such as the National Citizen Services.
UX2 also provides continuous support for young people struggling in mainstream education. This may be due to special educational needs such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, mental health issues, or complex home lives such as ‘in care’, neglect or abuse.
DSV has already provided UX2 with a large number of pallets, helped resource tools which are used to create workshops, where the young people will learn carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, engineering and mechanics, plus many other skills. The pallets are also used to make furniture, bird boxes and other items, that can be sold, and money then given to various charities.
Sweet Futures
Sweet Futures runs a traditional sweet shop with a difference in Kettering town centre.
The Shop doubles as a training centre for young people with additional needs and provides an opportunity to learn in a real-world environment, getting involved in every aspect of running a busy sweet shop. The Shop has one key focus: providing an opportunity for young people with additional needs to learn in an environment that is real. Real business, real customers and real opportunities.
DSV and Sweet Futures have worked together to provide opportunities for young people and help with fundraising and awareness campaigns including Billy’s Pouch, Staff Events and Christmas Corporate Staff Gifts.
DSV will continue to support the local community in every way possible as it continues to build a better future from ideas to implementation.
