Sending a clear message about the importance of good communications

Where security and safety are paramount, communication needs to be reliable and robust regardless of the size or configuration of the site or the number of individuals involved.

Resound Limited specialises in mission critical communication solutions, underpinned by excellent service, that cover the needs of a wide range of sectors and operations.

Founded in 1991 by Steve Allen, Resound designs, installs and maintains professional two-way radio systems, body-worn cameras and a wide range of safety solutions that ensure that, in the case of an emergency or critical event, a reliable system is in place to allow key personnel to communicate efficiently.

Unlike mobile telephones, two-way radios operate within their own infrastructure, so loss of signal or 4G doesn’t present an issue, allowing messages and transmissions to be received or monitored by any number of key individuals in those critical moments, so there is always someone available to respond.

Later this month, the company will be showcasing its products and capabilities at the Emergency Tech Show at the NEC in Birmingham, alongside Hytera, one of the market leading manufacturers in the industry. This annual event celebrates the very best in technological innovation within emergency services.

Danny Vickery, Business Development Manager at Resound, said: “Our customers are heavily entwined in the emergency services, particularly in the NHS, where we work with around 100 NHS sites across the country. We can deal with anything from a complete infrastructure overhaul for a hospital or offer multi-site connectivity for a trust, to two people needing radios for a particular project or event.

“Very often, in large buildings such as a hospital that often include basements and multi-storey car parks, there are remote areas where phone signal isn’t achievable. Two-way radios that ensure that lines of communication remain open, and any incident is immediately flagged up, are invaluable.

“We also work closely with security companies to provide them with the hardware or infrastructure they need to work efficiently and deliver on their clients’ requirements.”

In addition to two-way radios, Resound also provides body-worn cameras that give front-line staff and their employers the peace of mind that incidents can be recorded and reviewed later if necessary, protecting both the individuals and the business.

The portfolio also includes CCTV systems, Push-To-Talk Over Cellular, indoor position tracking, PA systems and all supporting infrastructure and applications, and Resound offers the purchase, lease, short and long-term hire of equipment.

Where required, the company carries out an audit at the client’s premises, advising on the infrastructure needed to ensure all areas are covered, and to help seamlessly integrate two-way radios with corporate telephone, smart sensors, fire panels, security and IT systems, as well as any current radio equipment in use. Features such as GPS tracking, PA announcements or an evacuation message to radio users if a fire alarm goes off, are all available for additional protection.

Communication can be configured across multiple sites across the country, including for remote and lone workers, and heavy-duty head-sets are available that connect those required to wear ear defenders, or keep their hands free, to their radios.

Danny said: “I’ve worked with a company that has workers out on wind farms in the north of Scotland, often working alone in challenging weather conditions and in very remote locations, and we can provide the coverage that helps keep them in touch with colleagues.

“Our site surveys identify the client’s requirements, and then we’ll work within their budget to make sure they get a system that works for them. We’re happy to go into businesses where they already have a system in place that needs upgrading or is no longer fit for purpose following growth of the business, and we’ll advise on what we can do within the existing arrangements to get them to where they need to be.

“From there, whether the client purchases, leases or hires, we have a team of engineers to support with installation, servicing and repairs through a number of service level agreements, depending on their needs.”

Resound is a long-term partner of Motorola Solutions and Hytera, the biggest names in the two-way radio sector, but also works with many other leading technology manufacturers including Entel, Kenwood, Avigilon, 3M Peltor, Icom, Kirisun, TASSTA, PeterJones and Juma Communications, to make sure there is always a solution that works within the customer’s needs and budget.

The company can also handle Ofcom licensing for customers that require it.

Danny added: “We work with more than 1,000 clients in the UK and abroad, and we’ve learned that clients need a flexible approach to carefully configuring systems to their own bespoke needs and the requirements of the organisation. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution.

“Our aim is to transform how our customers communicate by giving them robust, long-lasting systems that support their current and future business plans.”
