All Things Business was launched in 2017 as a quality, business-focused publication that gave companies in Northamptonshire the opportunity to tell their stories and engage with a wider audience.
Of course, as a business itself, the publication needs to generate revenue and there’s a cost attached to booking space – but it’s a cost that, when the space is used wisely, will deliver results every bit as successfully as promoting a company, services, products or news via online and social media platforms.
But, we would say that, wouldn’t we – so what’s the evidence that appearing in All Things Business is a worthwhile investment?
Targeted audience
Having begun in Northamptonshire, the All Things Business brand has spread to cover Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire, as well as moving into London. Each area has its own separate publication, which gives those companies who are looking to appeal to a specific market, the chance to do so.
It also means that those who cover a wider region can benefit from the opportunity to appear in more than one, maybe all, of our publications. The All Things Business team knows and understands the areas it covers, finding the ‘why’ behind an organisation and starting the whole process with a discussion about how wide that potential readership needs to be.
In addition, 24,000 copies of All Things Business are sent out each month by Royal Mail to named individuals at companies with a minimum turnover of £250,000 (£1m in London), the people who make things happen in the business world. It’s not for sale and it’s not pushed through random doors – it hits the target audience you need to reach.
Engaging content
While All Things Business is a mix of written content and advertisements, there’s a focus on what format would best suit the client. We make no secret of the fact that we like words, and that’s why we employ trained journalists.
When you need to get a message across – from what you’re all about as a business, to news from your sector, to celebrating anniversaries, orders and award wins – there’s no better way to do that than to say so in a well-written, engaging article that tells the reader all they need to know.
Or write something yourselves – many of those who appear in All Things Business, particularly those in the professional services, share their in-depth insights into what’s going on in their sector that educate and inform our readers on a monthly basis.
Having said all that, there’s nothing quite like a page of striking advertising artwork to catch the eye and get a business noticed. Receiving creative, quality full page adverts from clients is always a joy – but if you need help, there’s a whole design studio behind All Things Business that can do that for you.
High-quality presentation
What the team at All Things Business is most proud of is the amount of work, care and dedication that goes into making the publication the best it can possibly be, from the quality of the paper it’s printed on, to ensuring clients are happy with their content, to the checking and double checking of everything from spellings to page numbers before we go to print – and it’s always lovely when people inform us of any we’ve missed!
The reason for this attention to detail is that we’re a local company producing something for a local audience. The people featuring in All Things Business and the people reading it are right there on our doorstep, trusting us to deliver something that is a good read, looks fantastic and has a credibility we believe our clients and readers deserve.
On the shelf
While everything else seems to move at a frantic pace these days, a print publication can be a moment of calm. You don’t have to bookmark it or search for it, you can just pick it up with the cup of coffee you’ve just made and take a few minutes to check out what’s in the latest issue.
And, when you put it down, it’ll still be there tomorrow at the same time – no scrolling, no searching, no pop-up ads or distractions about what other people who read it also liked.
And, hold the front page… because it sits on desks and reception area tables for a month – that prime spot on the cover is available for those who are determined to get themselves noticed.
And the rest…
It is, of course, 2024 and there’s a very fast-paced digital world out there. The traditionalists may well be wedded to print and journalism and ‘a good read’ but we also understand that our clients have other platforms they want to use to promote themselves.
Because of that, there’s so much going on behind All Things Business that meets the needs of the modern-day marketing strategy.
Every article that appears in the All Things Business publications goes onto our website, and clients can use links to promote their own articles via their own social media. We also promote the articles throughout the month.
On social media – Instagram and LinkedIn in particular – we’re posting links on a daily basis that puts the publication in general and a daily selection of articles to a much wider audience. There’s also All Things Business – The Podcast, which follows up on a lot of the topics, sectors and individuals we encounter through our wide and varied involvement in the local business community.
Social media and advertising play crucial roles in marketing and brand awareness and there is no doubt they will play an increasingly important part in how we target audiences. But professionally written copy in a business publication is invaluable. It offers more depth and engagement, it has a longer shelf-life and it is easy to access. It also lends itself perfectly to being shared, linked and liked on whatever platform you choose – the best of both worlds!
