A reliable commercial outsourcing service which gives adults with learning disabilities valuable vocational experience and more opportunities has reopened to Northamptonshire businesses.
Teamwork Trust – a charity and social enterprise with centres in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough – has run a thriving factory floor for over 35 years, providing assembly, labelling, picking, packing and other warehouse services to local manufacturing firms.
With the three centres having been closed during lockdown, the charity is now gently starting back up, which means service-users – autistic adults and people with mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities – are looking for new projects.

Global door and window manufacturers, Winkhaus UK Ltd, is one Northamptonshire company that outsources important assembly work to Teamwork Trust.
With no production unit in-house, Chain Supply Coordinator, Lisa Dewick says the arrangement really does benefit the business.
“We cannot assemble and bag our bespoke components and fittings ourselves so, for us, Teamwork Trust provides a crucial service,” said Lisa. “Service-users get through vast quantities – around 5,000 a month, and sometimes more. It’s just not cost effective or time efficient for us to use anyone else.”
Corby-based manufacturer, Technical Foam Services Ltd, sends various warehouse tasks to Teamwork Trust because they love the extra level of customer service.

Making a real difference
Robson has learning disabilities and, like all service-users, the skills he has been able to learn since he started attending Teamwork’s Kettering centre have opened opportunities and helped him to thrive.
“I get to try new things, meet people and keep busy,” said Robson. “That’s why I love going to Teamwork. I am really proud of the jobs I get to do and learn.”
