Practical completion of key development

Dominvs Group’s first partnership with Whitbread to bring a new Premier Inn hotel and Bar + Block restaurant to Milton Keynes has reached practical completion.

The development is the company’s first Milton Keynes project and occupies a key town centre location opposite land earmarked for a new university.

The real estate investment and development company acquired the site, fronting Avebury Boulevard, one of Milton Keynes town centre’s principal boulevards, from Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP).

MKDP is a council-owned commercial entity promoting previously undeveloped sites (around 300 acres) across Milton Keynes.

This well-serviced location is within the central business district and 500 yards of Milton Keynes railway station and will house a 180 bedroom Premier Inn hotel and Bar + Block.

The partnership between Dominvs Group and Whitbread illustrates both parties’ significant investment in Milton Keynes town centre and the expansion of the Premier Inn brand.

Lee Saywack, Development Director of Dominvs Group, said: “We are pleased to complete our first partnership with Whitbread, with a successful handover.  It has been an exciting opportunity for us to take one of Milton Keynes’ undeveloped sites, to bring more high-quality hotel accommodation to the town’s centre. We are proud of the significant role our partnership and investment has played in the evolution and growth of Milton Keynes.”

Stuart Rose, Acquisitions Manager for Whitbread, added: “Milton Keynes continues to be an important market for Premier Inn and our expansion at Avebury Boulevard will bring our sixth Premier Inn hotel to the area when we open the doors and start welcoming guests in summer 2020.

“The hotel will also include our Bar + Block Steakhouse restaurant and bar – our first site in the town which we are very excited about. Together with the hotel, we expect to create between 75 and 80 new jobs on opening at Avebury Boulevard, with recruitment focused in the local area, and we expect to start advertising the roles in early summer.”

Milton Keynes Development Partnership commented: “We’re delighted to have been able to help bring this important project to fruition. It will create new jobs for local people plus the Premier Inn’s combination of a hotel that also includes a restaurant and bar will be a great addition to central Milton Keynes and is in keeping with MKDP’s strategy of bringing more vibrancy and excitement to the town centre.”
